Removing Msconfig items

Hi all
I've just a bit of housekeeping to speed up the boot-time and now I've got a load of unticked items under msconfig.
I'm fairly certain there's a way to get rid of these items from the list and just leave the ticked ones.
Anyone any ideas if I'm going mad or if there is such a utility?

I'm pretty sure CCleaner can do that.0

Can't see any options in Ccleaner to remove the unticked items to reduce the list.
If I have the following in MSCONFIG:-
Item 1 - ticked
Item 2 - ticked
Item 3 - ticked
Item 4 - unticked
Item 5 - unticked
Item 6 - unticked
What I want to do is remove items 4, 5 and 6 from the list completely so it only shows items 1, 2 and 3.
I'm fairly certain the program has been mentioned on here, but I can't remember the name of it.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

When using MSCONFIG to uncheck programs that you don't want starting, they still remain in the list. This is generally a good idea since if you make a mistake, you can easily add them in again. But if you are sure you want them removed and not displayed:
Open the Registry Editor click on the Start button on your taskbar, then click on Run and type "regedit" and click on OK to start the regedit utility.
Expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Remove any items you don't want displayed.
The modifications you made will be in effect after you reboot your PC.0 -
safer option than dogmaryxx autoruns
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx download, extract and run autoruns, first tab would be everything, change logon tab, this is everything that is started at bootup, including all things in startup, just remove the tick to stop the program loading, to remove the item completely, right click and select DELETE, it will remove the entry from the registry in the correct manner. by using this little program instead of msconfig you dont get the msconfig window popping up and saying you have modified your startup.
Note you can also use this program to help remove troublesome trojans.
As stated, to disable something from starting up just remove the tick, to restart same program put the tick back, when you reboot it will restart.0 -
must have pulled the bar down to quick, John. yes its a very simple program, I usually have it on my flashdrive, when fixing other peoples computer.0

Winpatrol is also a useful program for this, it also explains exactly what the item is.0

Just had a look at that and everything appears to be ticked which doesn't match what's in MSCONFIG.
I just need to remove the unticked items from the MSCONFIG startup tab.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:
