hiya
ive got an advent 7082 and last year the pin broke out of the plug (pulled charger out)
i managed to buy a new one and replace it myself. then it went wobbly again after a few months.
ive opened it again this week (havent been using the laptop)
i bought a new pin plug from ebay and i replaced it , if i soldier it too much i doenst work
Basically when i put the charger in the pin it works...then i put the pin on the motherboard and in the laptop (the charger light is on so im assuming the pins ok)
but the laptop wont turn on ?
could i have misplaced a wire or something when i put the laptop back together again ?
ive had a look at an online manual but it doesnt state about all the parts / wires etc
could anyone possibly know what im doing wrong ?i also replaced a screen inventor wire which i think was fitted fine.
how come the laptop wont turn on,.could the motherboard be damaged by soldering the pin few times? i heard it doesnt get damaged as its very hard and heat protective?
any help would be great please.

Double check the soldering. There must be no sign of any solder going to any of the other tracks, not even a tiny amount.
Did you take anti static precautions when doing the job? If not it could mean big problems.Try saying "I have under-a-pound in my wallet" and listen to people react!0 -
Also, check the circuit board tracks near the component that you replaced - if it has been physically stressed, you may have one or more hairline cracks, which are hard to see but would stop it working.0

ive taken the pin plug out and redone it about 6 times so far i cant see that im doing anything wrong as theres nothing near where its fitted.
if i take it out again clean the motherboard with detol or a wipe , then soldier the plug again , how much soldier should i put on the plug? enough to stick it to the board or totally cover the metels.?
is there any chance the motherboard is damaged now ?
or shall i give it one last try ?
thanks for your help guys.0 -
I don't see you have anything to lose by trying again. In fact I admire your patience.
Make sure the board and the socket are clean before you start. Solder will only stick to metal, so try to make sure there is no sign of old flux or other gunge. Use a small screwdriver to gently scrape down to the metal if necessary. Use the soldering iron to heat the metal and the connector at the same time, then add just enough solder for it to flow to contact both, then a little bit more for mechanical strength. Overall, only a very small amount is needed.
This pic should give you an idea on how much to use.Try saying "I have under-a-pound in my wallet" and listen to people react!0 -

theres a bit of metel on the white numbers near the pin plug...if i scrape it off i think id be scraping the borad..?
ive taken the pin plug out and before i put it back in wanted to know what i should do ?
i think one line of the white numbers (rs) got burnt / erased , does that matter?

Could you somehow show us a picture? I am not certain what you mean.Try saying "I have under-a-pound in my wallet" and listen to people react!0

Thanks for those, but what I'd really like to see is a close up of the area where the socket fits.
I think the white numbers you are referring to is component designation, in which case it won't hurt but I'd like to be sure.Try saying "I have under-a-pound in my wallet" and listen to people react!0 -
