HELP!! Selling may car
I am trying to sell my car. It is a Ford Focus LX 1.6 it is a 2006 (55) model. I have had it on autotrader for a week and a half, but only have had one call. I did start the price of at 5,800, then 5,500 and it currently stands at £5,289. Is this a reasonable price?
Here is the spec for the car: 49,000 miles, 5 Door Hatchback, Silver, Petrol, Manual, 3x3 point rear seat belts, ABS, Air conditioning, Audio remote control, Body coloured bumpers, Cloth seat trim, Electric front windows, Electric/Heated door mirrors, Radio/CD, Remote locking, Driver airbag, Passenger airbag, Side airbags, Immobiliser, Rear headrests, Folding rear seats, Height adjustable drivers seat, Steering wheel adjustment, Rear wiper, Power assisted steering.
Any help in how I can sell this please. I have advertised everywhere, signs in the window, autotrader, gumtree, aol, freeads, friday ads

your price seems closer to a dealer forecourt range to me.
remember mileage is highish , no warranty, too big engine for young driver,
With people getting £2K scrappge , they might be tempted to spend a little more and get new / slightly smaller/ less spec.
Sorry- Just my viewAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -

The 1st place a lot of buyers will look or will be advised to look is parkers.co.uk
You car valuation comes up as:
Ford Focus Hatchback (05 on)
1. 1.6 LX 5dChange2. 2006/55Change3. Average mileage: 30,000 milesChange4. Adjust for mileage and optionsChange
No options selected
Original Price£13,395Franchised Dealer£5,800
Independent Dealer£5,530
Private Good £5,155
Private Poor £4,150
Part Exchange£4,670
So in the independant dealer price area £5530 a buyer would be getting lots of nice service and 12 month warranty etc.
The above prices are with 30,000 miles as well, not the 49,000 you have.
Bringing your price down should help but i think you will be below £5000 by the time it goes.I beep for Robins - Beep Beep
& Choo Choo for trains!!0 -
That price you got from parkers, is the same as what I got when I put my milleage on there. What do you think I should advertise it then, I know I will get knocked down anyway.0

Thats cool, you entitled to opinion. I was told to put it higher than that. That is around the mark parkers has told to put, and roughly the same cost as other cars out there. Realistically what so you think I should advertise it for.
None of us know the car so it is difficult, but certainly under the 5k mark.0 -
Advertise at £4,750, with the expectation of achieving 4.5k.0

4.5k is what I was told to expect from local dealer and I would get more for private.0

As the saying goes "its only worth what someone is prepared to pay" and part of the problem it is a focus, and there are no shortage of them, If I was looking for one, I would be looking for a bargain, and if i couldnt get yours for the right price, there is always another focus round the corner.
At least you haven't mentioned redundancy or credit crunch in your ad, I managed to pick up a 350Z for the little woman at 4k under book from a guy who had lost his job, amazing what a wedge of cash can do.0 -
I think you may all be right you know, looking arount the country all the cars that seem to be for sale at my price are local dealers etc...0
