  • I followed everyones' advice. (Mine is a new double mattress that cost me £500, so I really did want to try and save it!) Ideally the mattress should be a few inches off the ground with plastic sheeting and towels beneath to absorb the liquid. I then doused the mattress with a bucket of hot highly concentrated biological powder. I let that soak through and then did another bucket full of disinfectant. (I changed the towels beneath reguarly). Once most of the liquid had drained through I then poured a litre of Simple Solution Stain and Odour Remover (purchased from Pets At Home), this has Pro Bacterial agents and Enzymes in.
I turned the mattress several times, dabbing with towels and then allowed to dry over a couple of days (against radiator). Once dry I sprinkled Bicarbonate of Soda on each side and left for a few hours. Vacumed off and hey presto the smell had gone completely. Make sure the mattress is completely dry when putting back on the bed otherwise you could get mould.
  • Get some URINE OFF or simular from a pet shop. It eats the bacteria that cause the smell. It honestly works as i have used it on a thick carpet that an elderly dog peed on... You just pour it on and leave it to work...
