Leaving 3 & trouble getting PAC code
Options
So, I've bitten the bullet and am leaving 3 after around 6 years to get an iPhone with 02. The new phone is due to be delivered today so I just called 3 to tell them I'm leaving and asked for my PAC code. What then followed was a constant stream of trying to offer me different phones and no listening to me telling them I'm not interested and am receiving my new phone tomorrow.
So, the situation is - my latest 12 month contract came to an end last October but I've just kept on going with 3. To me, that means I'm not properly 'in contract' but merely paying month by month, and I presumed I could therefore cancel at any time. Is this not right? 3 have just told me that my next bill is due on 2 August but for the month of August they'll just charge me £9 something instead of my usual £25 as a goodwill gesture. They've told me I need to call back on 3 August to cancel and give them my 30 days notice and only then will they give me my PAC code. Surely this can't be right?? Can't they just give me my PAC code in the next day or so in order that I can transfer to my new iPhone? And should I really need to give 30 days if my 12 month official contract ended months ago? I'm a bit confused and not particularly mobile-savvy so any comments welcomed on my questions!
Thanks

Just tell them you want your PAC end of story.
3 normally text it to you within a couple of minutes.
When i left 3 , due to the 3 like home, i got my text message with PAC while still on the phone to them.0 -
Hope you got this sorted? I was just adamant I did not want another contract, just the code. They sent it to me within 5 minutes of the call ending."I did then, what I knew then. And when I knew better, I did better"0

Utter nonsense - the CS was trying it on. You are out of contract and can request your PAC over the phone at anytime - as stated above, they normally text it to you while you are talking to them (though they always try the hard sell to make you stay, their "hard sell" is generally useless offers, much worse than their website!).
