 If any of you are called or have been by Energy Savers - and have any information about who they are calling on behalf of - which UK energy company uses them directly or indirectly - please post here.
I need to be able to give the energy watchdog people more information and as the number is untraceable I am not doing very well.
Thank you for your advice on my other thread - I am doing everything you suggest - other than the swearing down the phone!!:rotfl:Though in time that might change too!

Just found this link - apparently many others are being hounded by these people - please read this link if you are interested or have also been called.
someone must have gone a bit further with the call and given details and found out a bit more about them- anyone out there for whom this rings a bell?0 -
Hi OP that is why I didn't find the number on who calls me, you posted 001234569879 on the other thread
Welcome to the site btw and good luck with this.
(My bet is that it is npower)0 -
Thanks for your help - yes that is the number I have been called by 'energy savers'.

I found this thread on whocallsme.com and it seems that the same nasty people use two different nu,nbers - both untraceable - and there seems to be a strong link to 'energy savers.'
Have you been called as well?
I can't work out how these people benefit - what are they making money out of?0 -

I haven't been called but I know how annoying these calls can be, and they will reduce now you have registered with TPS (but give it a while to kick in) We have the answerphone on all the time anyway so can delete the unwanted ones and they give up after a while as wellThey are trying to make a sale, whoever they are.

yeh I suppose so - what really upset us was their rudeness - they were angry with us for being politely disinterested.
IT seems that when you say no - they deliberately target you for more calls that day - as a punishment almost.
When I read the whocallsme site and searched on the same number a whole thread about them came - and some of the things they say to people are shocking - swearing at them - calling them 'english b***ch@ etc - awfully intimidating for people.
I actually cannot beleive that they would have anything official to do with a British power company - it would be counter productive for them to use such rude call centre staff.0 -
That is interesting Meggsy -
They are obviously very busy in their call centre hassling us in the UK.0 -
I have also been contacted almost every day for the past week from this number asking who my energy provider is. When I tell them I'm not prepared to discuss it on the phone, I get told that they are not trying to sell anything. Yesterday I was told that they would ring me back, so I politely told them they would NOT ring me back, thank you & put the phone down. Guess what ..? Another phone call today, so when I heard the "hello" I cut them off. What do you have to do before they get the message?0

Perhaps some kind board guide might fancy moving & merging the threads, and possibly this one too in the Praise, Vents & Warnings sub-forum, also created by the OP on the same topic

It does seem the OP is on some form of crusade here."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

I've tried 3 different tactics - and all have worked
1) ask them who they want to speak to, and then say "I will get them for you". Put the phone down and leave them hanging on til they hang up. Good cos it costs them more for the call
2) make sure they can just hear you say to someone in the same room as you "Here is another one, trace this call Charlie"
3) chuckle when they say who they are and reply "I saw your firm on Watchdog last week"
I have had them instantly hang up in the examples of 2) and 3) above. Try and have fun with them - take the pee a bit. Whatever you do, don't give ANY details!0 -
Very simple, whether it's a phone call or guy at the door.
1. Not interested please go away - thank you.
If this doesn't work
P**s O**
If this doesn't work don't be so polite next time. - Works for me EVERY time
Why do people put up with these jokers invading their space/time?0
