I didn't come here asking for a diagnosis and I most certainly do not exhibit any of the above personality traits. I'm just wondering if you read my first post?

I was diagnosed Bi-Polar 2 weeks ago. I am just waiting for my meds to be sorted.

I hope for your sake that your medication is sorted out quickly, but be prepared for this to be a long hard-fought battle. I've been trying so many different combinations over the past year and I still don't have anything like stability. I've been on so many drugs and often they have made things much worse and as yet nothing has really made things better. It is possible to hit on the right one first time, but rare. Good luck with things.

I was referring to the "LOOK AT ME!" attitude in your first post.

If you think you're ill get to a Dr and stop trying to pick and choose symptoms on the interweb.

I wouldn't usually justify that type of comment with any kind of response but I feel I really should speak up against someone like you.

If anyone is being a narcissist here it's you. I added my post because I wanted to see if there were any like minded people on here that were going through the same kind of thing as me and since so many people have said thanks and that they are glad I have added it I think I did the right thing.

As you can quite obviously see from my posts I do have a doctor and I am awaiting an evaluation of my symptoms to see whether or not I am actually bipolar.

Being an open minded person I am prepared to be told that there is something else wrong when a PROFESSIONAL tells me so, not some internet wannabe with an attitude problem.

Yes I did check the internet to see if how I was feeling could be attributed to some kind of mental health issue and yes I did come to the conclusion that I may have Bipolar disorder but I can bet that is the diagnosis I am given.

Put it this way, if you fell down the stairs and heard a snap and looked down at your leg and it was painful, swollen and there was a bone protruding from it would you wait until you got an x-ray before saying it was broken? No you wouldn't because you know that those are the symptoms of a broken leg.
I didn't self diagnose, neither did I at any point say "LOOK AT ME". Judging by a lot of your other posts I'd say you have nothing better to do than go around making sarcastic comments and sticking your nose in where it isn't wanted to make yourself the centre of attention. Not this time buddy.

I'm an intelligent person from an educated background, I use this forum as a way of communicating with people in similar situations to myself and have found most of the comments and suggestions very useful.

So I'd thank you not to judge me on the basis of a few words on a website.

Anyway go back to your colouring book and let the big people talk.

I agree with Lellie, I was diagnosed in 2002 and I'm only now just about getting my meds sorted.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

I agree with this, but aslo that it is possible for right meds first time around. They put me back on my AD and also lithium and it's basically working ok for me, though I get side effects they aren't serious enough for mw to want to change my meds atm.

Also I'd like to say it can take a long time to be diagnosed bipolar as your doc has to see so many symptoms so many times before diagnosis can occur. Just to let you know I first started having depressive symtpoms when I was 14/15. First went to counsellor when I was 18. Seen pysch when I was 20, though was only diagnosed bipolar last year (25). Just be honest with your docs about what you are experiencing.

    Very good dear.

People can go through months or years of anguish before getting a diagnosis of bipolar. Psychiatrists go through many years of training to confidently diagnose it. If you had any experience of bipolar then you really wouldn't want it. The drugs used to treat it are bloody horrible and lifelong. Nothing like your probable baby-dose of sertraline.

Bipolar is not something you look up on wikipedia and claim that it fits. The fact is that you are being a prat and are causing offence and dismay to people who have experience of this illness.

If you were from an educated background you would have known that my original post was taking the p*ss out of you rather than a serious diagnosis. Also, my 1st class Maths degree from a proper university says I'm quite capable of more than colouring books.

So what you are saying is that you decided to take the !!!! out of someone who has quite obviously come on to discuss their mental health issues and the benefits they are entitled to?

    Bravo.

If I have offended anyone then I am sure they will let me know. This forum is generally frequented by adults who are here to help each other not just to make themselves feel better.

Who are you to say that I don't have Bipolar? Are you a qualified doctor?

You can call me a prat but I'm not the one who has to put others down to make himself feel better.

Ha ha a first class maths degree indeed!! Congratulations. You can stick your first class maths degree up your Pythagoras as far as I'm concerned it does not give you the rigt to pass judgement on others the way you did.

    Thank you Lellie

I am back at the hospital in September to see how I am coping with the meds and if they need adjusting. I start them tomorrow and then increase weekly until the GP is happy with the dose and then to the hospital.

I am quite scared of these meds because even though I have been told they are the ones with the least side effects, they will most likely make me ill for a couple of weeks and again each time the increase  no fun with 3 little ones on summer hols !!

I am really hoping these are the meds for me and that I don't need to plough through the full range !! They wouldn't put me on lithium as they really want that to be a last resort due to my age - apparently they don't like prescribing it to child bearing aged women due to a link with severe birth defects.

I hope everyone on here is ok and best wishes with diagnosis, appointments and medications.

    T xx
