Lets cut Rikochet some slack people! Are we forgetting just how ambiguous emails can be?!!
Rikochet, your reaction throughout the whole of this thread screams frustration. I get what people are trying to say to you but I think I'm right in saying most people on here will have felt like they were banging their head against a brick wall at some point. Try not to get disheartened, most people are well meaning. Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit and obviously the last thing you need right now. Try not to let it put you off posting.

    Keep your chin up :)

    Thanks Claire,

The truth is, if life were easy and everyone agreed with each other we'd have nothing to talk about and we as a race would noy have evolved to anywhere near the stage we are at now.

I enjoy a good heated debate with others who do too but I was getting increasingly frustrated at people who would say one thing and then completely contradict themselves in the next sentence.

Although e-mails can come across somewhat differently than they were intended I am sticking to my guns.

Throughout this thread I have made some really valid points and observations and people are picking up on the small details as opposed to looking at the bigger picture.

It seems that some are looking for sympathy, whilst others are looking for the respect of others on this forum.

Be what may it does not affect me wanting to post on here now or in future.

I'm not here to be judged, I really couldn't give a damn what others think of me. Thank you all for your kind help and advice.

So you don't like to be judged but it's ok for you to judge other well meaning experienced people.

I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

The thing with mental health disorders is that there can sometimes be an "overlap".
Some number of symptoms can be present in a number of disorders.

For instance, Bi-Polar and Borderline Personality have some of the same symptoms.

For most of my late teenage years the words "Borderline Personality" were used when speaking about me but the mental health team refused to give me a diagnosis because of my age.

The other day I saw a consultant psychiatrist in a new area and was given a "working diagnosis" of Borderline Personality. Basically, all the evidence is there that I have it but because I have only been seen once by this team, they want to make sure their suspicions are correct, so I'm going to be worked with as if I have the disorder, which is the probability, and then a proper diagnosis will be made.

You might have to prepare yourself for this.

If this is going to be the first time you see them, then they may decide to give you a working diagnosis or not one at all for a while.

Also, don't be surprised if you're given a dual-diagnosis or a different one from Bi-Polar all together.
As people have said it's easy to self-diagnose but only psychiatrists will be able to diagnose you.
    Self-diagnosis is dangerous.

Anyway, I'm not having a go at you, and I think most people on here weren't either.
They just want to echo how a diagnosis is not something that should be taken lightly and how you will have to prepare yourself for the hard times ahead it may cause.

Is there any space left on the bandwagon?

Can everyone just forget about telling me what to do with regards to whatever is wrong with me and let me and my doctor deal with it please.

I mean it's really nice hearing about all your suicide attempts and such and I do appreciate that you are all just trying to help but repeating what someone else has said in a previous post isn't going to make me think you're right.

I don't know how many times I have to say I'm not self diagnosing before you all just forget about it and let me get on with it.

Since I've started this thread I've been diagnosed (by the very people who are telling me not to self diagnose) with all sorts of things that it might be instead.

Half of you have said "It's taken me ages to get a proper diagnosis". Tell me how you knew it was the wrong one? Oh you weren't happy with what the doctor/specialist/psychiatrist told you and decided to go to another one and another one until someone gave you a diagnosis that you felt comfortable with.

I'm a grown man with a little more common sense than most. I've had a hard life which has obviously contributed to my mental state and I need to get it fixed before it gets any worse. Simples.

Tr3mor deserved the abuse he got because he was a cheeky w^%$er.Simples.

Finally, to the people who have been sensible enough to read what I'm saying without adding arms and legs (and the odd personality disorder) THANKYOU!!!

When I need medical advice I go to my doctors.

When I need money advice I go to the moneysavingexpert.

So can anyone answer my question in the previous post about my partners earnings and ESA?

It is very sad that you feel fit to respond so harshly.

People have responded through their own experiences because they mean so much more than any internet site can tell you.

Mental health diagnosis is far from exact, especially in the NHS, you will realise that in time. Perhaps then you will reflect on what has been written on this thread with a more open minded, mature attitude.

Was it you or a mod that deleted the post where you boasted about breaking into one of your mates houses, messing it up and covering everything in tin foil for a laugh?

And you claim you're not attention seeking.

To go with ESA and your partner's earnings, I'm not entirely sure how this works. I'm on IB, and I have that in my own right, based on my NI contributions of the eight years in work before 2007. I think if you get ESA for incapacity, they may base it purely on you, but it is worth asking. I do also receive DLA (middle rate care/low rate mobility) and unusually got it first time asking. But then again, my GP has always tried to help as much as they can.

I have a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder, and like you, when I saw the evidence list, I was convinced it has been written purely for me. But, I also have symptoms of more than one thing, including psychosis and autistic trait symptoms (routine, having obsessions, and also the flip to both of these) I know there may be something else wrong, but it's not for me to decide, I'm not going to look things up and think "Ooh I might have that" as you can then cause psychosomatic symptoms that appear to be that which they are not.

And I HAVE tried answering. But you, just as any of us, can have a bad day/few days/weeks and take it out on others. A suggestion is not to go online as much then, unless there is also a safe site you can use to vent

It must have been a moderator. I didn't actually break in I went in through an open window, picked up my £700 laptop and my own belongings and secured the property before leaving. They thanked me for what I did as they didn't realise they'd left the window open and they live in quite a rough area. When did I say I wasn't attention seeking?

Is that because people aren't siding with you and are actually voicing their own experiences and opinions?

I have only one thing to say, Rikochet good luck at attempting to get an accurate diagnosis. Just be warned prepare yourself for a long battle ahead if you’re going down the NHS route of waiting for appointments... good luck cause you’ll need it! ;)
