long story short;
submitted my letter to cancel with vodafone,
days later, had a phone call to see if they could change my mind, and offered me;
600 mins
unlim texts
12 mth contract
sim only
£9.70 p/m
no new phone
asked for a day to think about it, and the guy said he would call back. he never did. so i rang them, only to be told i could only have this deal if i took another handset, at the cost of a extra £10 pm.
i did say no, i will go else where thankyou, and he told me another person from a different dept will call me back in a hour.
when the 3rd man rang me, he said the tariff did exist at £9.70, and applied it there and then.
all was well untill this morning, when i had a letter from vodafone detailing my new contract. all was ok, except they had put me on a 18mth contract not 12.
i rang to have it altered, i was told it was not possible, as the rate was reduced. i was bounce from person to person for a hour, i was told it was not possible to be offered a 12 mth contract on this deal, and im locked in to the contract as i verbally accepted it.
im soooo mad.:mad::mad::mad:
i did not agree to the 18mth contract, but vodafone will not listen. i even have the time and date of the calls, but they wont check them.

berniesmaster,
This does sound familiar.
Back in August 08 I contacted Vodafone to enquire about upgrading my contract that (I assumed) expired at the end of August 2008. The contract was 18months long, and had had begun in Feb 2007.
So far, so good...
When I contacted customer services to find out exactly how many days of my contract I had left so that I could enquire about upgrading, I was startled to be told I had another 6 months left (end date: Feb 2009) = 24 month contract.
This I was extremely angry about, I spent hours on the phone going through the same story with different people trying to find out who had extended my contract and when.
Eventually I was told that somebody had contacted me last Feb (implying 2008), stating that in return for £30 of credit, I'd apparently agreed to extend my contract by 6 months. I was furious, I had no recollection of this, and so enquiring further was told that no, it wasn't 2008, but 2007!!!
Somebody had contacted me, as it turned out, a 3rd party group (nice one vodafone), 14 days into my contract to ask whether I'd like to add on another 6 months. Vodafone assured me that paperwork was sent out confirming I'd agreed to add on another 6 months, in exchange for "£30 credit".
By now I was fuming, 18 months was the longest I'd consider tied to a network, there was no way I'd said yes to make it into 24months!!
Anyway, I keep ALL letters from banks/phone companies etc in a file for just such an occasion...and low and behold, on my second monthly statement, there was a tiny "30cr" on my bill ( £30 credit), with no explanation, no supporting documentation or anything....
.........by this time I phoned back about ready to explode and start world war 3, I went through the whole story again, and eventually requested to speak to a more senior figure. Eventually got told that at 'managers discretion', the contract would end after 18months.
Basically, a third party group got my number through Vodafone, contacted me and just extended my contract there and then (how the heck did they manage that????).
Vodafone apologised and my contract expired after 18months.
Sorry for going on and on here berniesmaster, but to sum up, try and be persistent, see if you can speak to a more senior individual, it may or may not work, but trust me I've had my fair share of dodgy dealings from Vodafone, I know exactly how you feel, you're not alone!

Hi beaniesmaster,
Have you been able to get this sorted out.
If not, then just send us an email with your details using the 'Contact us' form on the Vodafone website.
When sending it you'll just need to include the link to this thread and the code WRT135 in the body of your email to make sure it comes through to us.
Thanks,
Lee

hi lee.
if only it was that simple!!
i have since been promised a call back from a senior supervisor who i spoke with 4 days ago.
he told me he would call me back within 24 hours, he needed a day to investagate etc.
each day since then i have rang vodafone, asking if someone could get this person to contact me as promised.
.....still waiting!!!!!
vodafone customer service is shocking in my experience.3 wonderfull kids :female::female::male:, 1 fab hubby, 2 beautifull cats and 1 very large dog = my family!

You'll wait forever for anyone to call you back. Then if you call them take a packed lunch because you'll get rather hungry before they answer the phone - and have a strong drink ready because IF they ever do it will be another complete waste of your time. Why do you think they are suddenly popping up on here to try to limit the damage of all the bad press they are getting on these threads??0

Hi Lee,
I know you can`t comment directly about these many many cases of miss-selling etc, but can you at least say that someone at a senior level within Vodafone is at least aware of these posts?0 -
Hi Encantador
The work we are doing within Web Relations is fed back regularly to the business.
It is important to us that we update the business with how you guys feel when you interact with us and Vodafone as a whole.
Thanks
