Your pension is over £90 a week, incap £90 and the DLA is discounted, you wouldnt get (IB)ESA and you wont get morgage intrest relief on IB.

If you have enough benefits then pay the morgage intrest and save yourself the angush christine.

I have since found out I cannot claim IS, and I wish I hadnt phoned.
I only enquired because I thought I was losing my pension, but that was only a misunderstanding and paranoia on my part. I emailed the pension people and they confirmed it stands.

I am having bad paranoia at the moment, so profusely apologise.
Jowo's post has scared me. I know they didnt mean to.
The lady was just being helpful.
Am I right in saying some incapacity claimants are better off on ESA?

Now that I know Iam not losing my pension, I am ok with what I have got.

I just want confirmation that I am not obliged to fill out the form.

    thank you

You do not have to fill out the form.

You already get IB and cannot get ESA as well or instead of until you are migrated over to ESA.

I know you are ill and I hope you feel better with the reassurance you have recieved here.

You are better of on IB until you are dragged onto ESA, the IB50s are stressfull enough but the feedback from the ESA50s and medicals sound even worse so I wouldnt rock the boat though you are safe this time.

I doubt very much they will harass you for NOT completing and claiming for a particular benefit - if you don't wish to claim the benefit- don't return the form

I would advise sending a letter to explain your intentions not to claim if that is the route you decide to take. Simply because its not unknown for the dwp to make a mistake and assume you claimed a benefit, reduce another benefit and not tell you. You only find out when your benefits are reduced, and have to wait ages to get it sorted, all because you didnt fill in a form and claim a benefit, and they made the mistake of thinking you did in one department, so reducing your money, but obviously they dont make the mistake of thinking you did in the department that pays the benefit you didnt claim... So you end up losing out.

It happened to me a while ago....

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that

If your actually getting paid by IB then dont fill in the ESA form. Only people that are getting Credits Only IB and need to claim an Income Related benefit need to claim ESA.

I think Bundance needs a straight answer.

Yes, bundance, if you receive the form just bin it. You do not need to return it.

    Bye for now.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
