One bad review is not going to cause a book to drop down the ratings.

Have you read this thread through?? If so, then you will have seen Martin's posts, and wouldn't need to ask that question.

Yes I have, and Martin's blog and he seemed to be saying that it was odd that a ratings drop and a bad review should happen at the same time.

    I haven't asked a question either?
    I mean "."

  • The book may be sliding down the ratings a bit but they are fighting for it on ebay.
Had 12 auctions including "The Money Diet" which had the most bids and loads of watchers and made me back what I spent on it, so cheers Martin!
I enjoyed reading the book, but it didnt save me lots of money, sorry. (Only my house contents insurance which I changed, saved £15 per month, also I changed bank accounts but that was down to bad customer service from the bank) Like Andy earlier, I am interested in money and I have always kept a close eye on my direct debits and monthly outgoings and keep them as low as I can. Reading the book prompted me to scrutinize everything again but it was cut to the bone anyway.

Despite all that, I love the site, moneysaving old style is my favourite, it has had a big impact on my life for the better. Couldn't say a bad word about the book - if you read it and its not really for you at least it may bring you to this excellent site. Then of course you can ebay the book in true moneysaving style!

    I Left the following:

This was one of the best books I have picked up, it's clearly written and well laid out., it reads as if Martin is sitting next to you and is talking to you on a one to one basis.

Not the type of book I would normally buy but glad I did.

So far this year we have changed the mortgage saving £250 a month, paid off our credit cards got well in to credit, the wife is having 7 months maternity leave, bought a van and a Panasonic 37" plasma TV with the money I have saved from using the book, plus we made an appearance on Martins TV show MMR and saved £12,000+ we now visit his web site on a daily basis, man is a money guru. He is a wizard with money.

We where always good with money but now we are better.

The tricks we have picked up since reading the book would have paid for the book 100 times over.

This year to date Martin has saved me around £15,000.

If you wish to keep wasting money then don't buy the book.

The book can get a little heavy in places but just take your time with it I did a chapter a night when taking my ease in the spa with a glass of wine.

Now I have a friend that wants to read it, so she is going to borrow it from me.

Wonder if I can rent it out £1 a week to people. Hmmmmm I wonder…….

    I spotted one review Quote:
“Here's a tip. Don't waste your money by buying this book. All this information is free on the net or in newspapers.”

Yes it is free on the net It’s all in Martins Web site: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/
But here in the book it’s all in one place and you don’t have to hunt for the information you are looking for

Thanks Judi I will, it just t'ed  me off seeing Martins book being slagged off like it was, Martin works hard to help us all save money and he deserves the breaks, I know how much work goes in to keeping a website going and up to-date, my sites are no where near this size, but it still takes time and work, let alone the time to write a book to compliment it. I read every page of the book some two or three times.

This time last year I wouldn't have touch this kind of book  but since meeting Martin and talking with him he has given me a new hobby taking on the fat cats and getting as much money back from them as possible. And now around a year on, it's all starting to come together and pay off. This time last year I wouldn't of had the b*lls to max out a 0% card to the sum of £11,000 and stooz it away in a 6% account. :j
I still feel there are more things to look out for and I will still keep on top of this site each and every day.

Thanks Martin, Dan and you too Judi.

There are now 90 reviews showing on the Amazon page! The vast majority are absolutely glowing.

Mine hasn't showed up yet. Perhaps they thought it was rubbish - it was my first attempt at a literary review. :o

Can I remind you that the MSE doesn't allow advertising.

    <that was a joke>

I think that people on the MSE forums might well find that the book doesn't cover much new ground, but there are 1000s out there who don't read the forum, but do listen to R2 and go to bookshops, so the book is just another outpost of the wisdom of the MSE approach.

I used to hear Martin on R2 and it was 4 years before I bothered doing a google search for several permutations of money, saving, expert and finally found the MSE website.
