MSE_Martin wrote:I find the idea that writing this in my personal blog as being unethical is someone a strange one. As for people writing reviews, of course I welcome it, yet I'm not suggesting people write one thing or the other - yet i'm confident in the quality of the book, and thus am happy for people to write as overall I think the reviews will be positive.
On reflection perhaps 'unethical' is too strong a word.
I see your blog as a professional rather than a personal one - it may give a personal perspective but the content is generally about your professional life, it's hosted as part of MSE and extends the MSE brand etc. and this I guess is where I saw the problem as coming from - to me there is no distinction between your blog and the rest of this site.
I actually own a copy of the book but have never found it that useful (It's OK I don't do Amazon reviews :-] ).
There do seem to be plenty of people out there for who the book and the whole MSE thing has made a big difference, so that's a good thing regardless of my opinion.
Cheers

Andy,
Can i ask?,why did you not find the book usefull, was it because,
1.You were already doing all the tips.
2.You didn't follow the suggestions in the book.
I am just curious that's all.Sponsored by Tesco Clubcard Points !!0 -

So what came first for you the book or visiting the site? Personally, I have to admit I havent read the book as I was already on the site when I found out that the first one existed.
Interestingly, one of my best friends has read the book and loved it, but has no interest in the site.0 -
Having never left a review on amazon I've finally decided to. Your blog entry served as a reminder to me!0
