I'm with aimee21j, he can do whatever he wants to (within reason!!) I did want him to stay in the UK though as I'm a bit anxious with all the planning etc and he is the calming influence so I wanted to be able to speak to him if necessary. Not that I intend to interrupt his (or my!) proceeding with phone calls, but you never know! My hen do is going to cost around £40 for the weekend - a meal out (all you can eat Greek restaurant which lays on entertainment like the obligatory plate smashing!) on the Friday, and afternoon tea at ours on Saturday so the grannies and aunties can come and enjoy it. Then a sleepover with my 5 best friends following that. My hen do happens to fall on my 21st birthday weekend so everyone would have been happy to spend much more, but I want to stay local so I feel comfortable and enjoy it. OH is off to the dogs on the Friday and up to Manchester on the Saturday morning for a tour of Old Trafford and a night out - so his is going to cost around £100. I found them an apartment which sleeps 4 for £80 on hotels.com which worked out well, and got cashback too! I'm glad he's going off and having a night away though, because it means I have the house to do my thing with the girlies! :p

Hey ladies....you want to know why blokes spend a fortune on their stag night?

.....so they can get up to mucky stuff in a foreign/far away city without fear of being caught. Simple. Discussion over.

You don't spend hundreds of ££££'s on a stag night to eastern europe to sit and have a few beers.....it's because there is an abundance of x-rated strip clubs, and yet more women offering other services for just a few Krona.

Am surprised at the number of stags going to amsterdam  I know what can happen, after attending an Army Officers stag do in the Dam, and it wasnt a pretty sight.

For ours the Oh is going out for a meal with friends, and I am not bothering with a stag do at all. I would rather buy myself a new watch instead.

My Stag we on the ferry over so really they had the stag do 'at sea' then spent 6 hours Amsterdam ;)

He and his mates made use of the cafes, bought some matching hats (!), had a couple of pints and a macdonalds then got the ferry home :rotfl:

So I am to assume Amsterdam is no longer out of bounds then ~(as it was in the 80s and early 90s before
    I got out)?

Or was it only out of bounds to ORs?

    Must be.

I have vivid memories of my mate the army officer, breaking through a huge paper screen to the raptures of the audience in a brothel !!! sex show type gaff, he was wearing a pair of roller boots and a cheesy grin. What happened after that isnt printable in a family forum.

What happens in the Dam stays in the Dam.

One of my friends was best man and went to Amsterdam on the stag night - he spent the whole evening in the hotel bar with the groom, who was scared to go out cos he had overheard the rest of the gang planning stuff :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I don't see why stags need to go abroad, it's all a bit pointless imo.

It may seem pointless but, In reference to what DKLS said I don't think it's about the beer or the scenery...

I don't think it was rigourously enforced - but for instance you couldn't get a train warrant to the Dam, you had to get one to the next town back. But the other Prop in the rugby team regularly did PT in a T-shirt that said "I went to the pink lights in Amsterdam" and no one said a word about it.
