Car hire Shannon - child seats

Hi,
Going to Shannon mid August for a long weekend, but 2 car seats (for a 2 year old and a 5 year old) are costing almost as much as the car for 3 days. Any bright ideas ? Does anyone offer free car sets ?

I don't think you will find any for free.

I have hired car seats before and have been shocked at the prices (usually around EUR 40.00 + tax) and the quality has been terrible too.

Unfortunately, the situation is that they have you over a barrel as they know you are forced to use one by law and so charge extortionate prices.

This place does them at EUR 39.99 with free collection if you have booked your car through Enterprise.

Otherwise, I have always borrowed seats off family in Ireland. Is this possible for you? Or I have even heard of people buying a seat in Ireland 2nd hand and then selling back to the shop at the end of their stay as it is cheaper.

It is a ridiculous situation, I know, especially as the high charges IMHO merely lead to people taking risks to save money!!!

Thanks, going to try and pack a booster seat for the old one and just hire a seat for the younger one, at saves EUR 40, unless I end up paying Ryanair more to carry the bags !
