I could go on!!!!!!!!!
The paper is very spontaneous...
For that read, do not read whilst smoking a pipe!!!!0 -
Saturday's Guardian is usually a good read and includes an excellent money section which should be of interest to MSEs. You may also find free copies on trains and in hotels, but I rather suspect these will be minus DVD!“Official Company Representative

Thanks- I can't believe there are people who don't already buy it for Martin's back page and those great "make-overs"- whatever happened to them?0

Will just have to pay full price for paper but worth it for the DVD. Saturdays are the only day I bother getting a paper and only if they have free DVDs I am interested in.0 -
Awww What a waste of my blockbuster selections! Just got supersize me yesterday.
Still going to get it with the guardian, though.

xmfclick wrote:It's worth asking the person in the newsagents if you can have the DVD (and the supplements, if it's inside a plastic bag) without buying the paper. Best to wait till shortly before closing time. It's worked for me, a couple of times. Worst that can happen is they say No, so you buy the paper anyway.
Bizarre thing about the way newsagents work (or used to) is that they get (got) credit for unsold copies of newspapers, without actually having to send them back. I may be remembering it wrong (it was a while ago), but the agent (or was it the wholesaler?) was supposed to destroy the unsolds and send an affidavit (i.e. a legally binding document) to the publisher attesting that they had done so -- EVERY NIGHT!! But it was just the paper that had to be destroyed, not the supplements. So, if they still work like that, the agent doesn't really care about the supplements. If he thinks you'll buy the paper he won't give you the supplement, but if it's just before closing and you don't do it every week there's a chance that he'll say "Take it".
I used to work for a Supermarket and they had to leave the papers out (in that metal thing all newsagents have outside) so when they come to leave the next day's papers they collected them (and turned them into new newspapers, apparently!).0 -
Got mine today! I was suprised it was £1.30, though! I usually pay 60p for the Wednesday one.
Never the less, good bargain, thanks OP."I did then, what I knew then. And when I knew better, I did better"0 -
