  • I understand what you mean but watch out they can and will come calling for the money years after the event.

up until this week i had never heard of moon beever. I got told by my employer i was on an NT . But there is no IPA. My OR has said that as far as he can see I am not going to be contacted to set up an IPA nor have ny details been passed to moon beever and yes i get taxed full and proper whack normally as i work 40 plus hours per week as an office administrator.

Gonna buy premium bonds with it, then at least i cant spend it and it will just sit there until someone shouts for it, and hey might win something. No use me leaving it my account as I will spend it if its there.

Waiting for OR to get back to me he thinks there has been some kind of error. Seems stupid to me to stop taxing you and then claim it back but you have to rmember to keep it by like you are now self employed so you can pay it another government body. I like paye its gone at source - now i am going to get it and I have to calculate waht my tax should have been each month a remember to take it out of my account and stash it else where in case someone asks for it.

How extraordinarily odd. If i had not asked about the why I was on an NT code and been suspicious about anything positive ever having I may not have discovered it was not mine to keep and spent it all. Good job I never look a gift horse in the mouth eh. Could have been months and I would have spent it all on a treat for my impoverished teens and then i would have been !!!!!!ed when they suddenly wrot and asked for it back, as thus far no-one has indicated officially in any way shape or form that this money is not mine to keep.

and Madmonk - you are not a terrible human being, if i dont hear anything to the contrary in a years time i shall be booking a holiday with mine. If the self employed lot dont have to pay tax for the duration of the BR then why do the pAYE lot have to pay it over to some hokey sounding company we have never heard of

Well I'm just going to sit tight and wait and see! But I would be interested if anyone else has had the same happen to them and if the or or Moonbeever came chasing it up months or years later?

I have to admit I do feel a little guilty but not enough to contact the or!!!

Moonbeever might not, but HMRC may .

The alternative to the nil tax IPA is that the OR asks HMRC to send them all your tax for the year in which you went BR, which is what they usually do if you go BR towards the end of the tax year. So when the OR asks HMRC for your tax, HMRC will tell them they haven't been taxing you, so the OR or HMRC may come asking for it back.

so why bother messing with it in the first place, tis very bloody annoying and causes extra stress where there need not be any.

I will just hold my nerve and wait and see - but it's 4 months since the start of the new tax year,so I would have thought they would have given the remaining tax to the or by now especially since they sent me a letter informing me of my new tax code for this year? As long as I have the money sitting in my account I'm not worried about if they do or don't contact me - que sara sara (or something like that)!
