No IPA/IPO but have just got nil tax code

Jennie, I think you have the wrong end of the stick, a nil tax code IPA is normal and standard for everyone. As we have just started the financial year everyone (Well most people) that goes br will get a nil tax code IPA. It doesnt mean you are paying out anymore than before, just that the tax you usually pay goes to moon beever rather than the inland revenue. this is then put into your br to help pay towards the costs.
Moon Beever are the agents acting on behalf of the Insolvancy service, they are not debt collectors.
This isnt a bad think, makes no difference to your surplus and has nothing to do with a usual IPA, its just an agreement to pay what you usually would pay in tax from your salery to Moon Beever!
I hope that makes sense. no need to call your or, its normal!!!0 -
Who do I contact to find out what exactly is occuring here as my local council WODC will soon be on my case to reduce housing benefit as have more disposable income without paying tax. Its all very well saying put to one side but when you work to as tight a budget as I do if its in my bank account it will go out of my bank account and as it took enough effort to get one account cant see me getting another one to stash this money in, and how would I know how much of my salary is the tax each month.
They work on the average of your last few payslips and MoonBeever will be in touch. However, you are quite correct - your local council do view this as extra income for the purposes of calculating housing benefit. My housing benefit was reduced following the implementation of my nil tax code in October, and despite my OR contacting them in writing, they refused to reconsider - they knew the money wasn't mine, that it was going directly to Moonbeever. As far as they were concerned, if they didn't take this into account they would be assisting me in paying off my debts. In the end, when Moonbeever got in touch with me and asked why I had failed to pay my nil tax IPA I emailed them, cc'ed my OR, and explained that I wouldn't be paying it as due to my low salary they were in essence taking money from my benefit, which they were not allowed to do.
After much discussion, and photocopies of all the paperwork from the housing benefit people, they cancelled my IPA but it caused major grief. I have just had yet another review of my housing benefit, even though I have been on a normal tax code since April - they have had every single payslip since then to make sure I'm not getting too much money :rolleyes:Get free advice before embarking on bankruptcy: CCCS 0800 138 1111 National Debtline 0808 808 4000

I would echo that. It's perfectly normal to get a nil tax code. The amount that you would pay in tax then goes into your bankruptcy estate. Moon Beever are the OR's collections agent, they collect my IPA.0 -
Sorry to butt in (and I'm not trying to confuse the issue)but as I've said before I still have almost £600 in tax sitting waiting to be collected by moonbeever or someone and it's now been awaiting collection for over 8 months (didn't pay tax in Jan,Feb & March this year). And I filled the forms in that was sent by the or! Roll on end of OCT!;)0

Sorry I can't count it's been awaiting collection for 7 months!0

Sorry Merry I know it's totally unethical of me but I haven't and I don't intend to! I filled all the forms in that they sent, they have my payslips and if they haven't done what they are suppose to do then tough - I don't intend to spend the money(at the moment) but if in a years time when I've been discharged for 6 months+ then I just might!!!0

I fully expect that when my or finishes with my file and signs it off (Oct09)that they will realise that they haven't had the money and then they will ask for it (and it will be sitting here waiting for them!) but just in case they are so overworked that I slip through the net, I don't intend to tell them of their mistake:eek::eek::eek: I know I'm a terrible human being for it but it's their mistake not mine!;)0
