Moving to a rented house

Whats the best way to get internet/broadband.
Do they all have a 12 mth tie in or are there any short term deals out there. Any idea's for a good dial up assuming I cant get broadband.

Thanks

We rent and get our BB through Pipex because there was no tie in. The only catch was that if you left within 6 months you had to pay them for the modem they supplied which at the time was fifty quid so.

I was with Virgin for nearly 1 year. They state no minimum contract but "reserve the right to charge you £75 if you leave within 12 months". So far I am yet to meet anyone that they have enforced this on. If you stay with them longer than 6 months then I doubt they would charge you.

Also many ISPs such as Wanadoo don't charge you if you move house but you must take your connection with you so if you expect to move in 6 months and still want broadband in the next place then it is worth looking at companies such as Wanadoo and Telewest who offer a free house move service.
