Lake Garda, where to stay?

  • We go down to Garda each summer. We stay at a campsite called La Quercia which is just outside the beautiful town of Lazise. Lazise is located on the east side about half way up. There is a sandy beach just a short walk away and its a great location to visit all the attractions. Its only 30 minutes from verona and is ideally located to get onto the motorway to get to vicenza or venice.Lazise

Thanks everybody. We are now booked up in at the Park Hotel Casimiro which is I think beside the tiny ferry terminal in Portese Port. (between Salo and San Felice) It is hard dealing direct with hotels when you are not fluent in Italian!!! I now know how to get about from Descenzano to Peschiera to Verona to Venice, but would be grateful if anyone knows how to get from the hotel we are in to Descenzano. I know there are buses and boats but am struggling to work out departure points i.e do we need to go to Salo for a bus and timings ( are there any buses/boats at tea time). Do you know anything about that area peejay67?

We are off to Riva next week. (Hotel Garda - sounds very nice!) On the map there appear to be two railway lines going north from Riva. Does anyone know if these still exist? If so, can I find the timetables on a website somewhere?
Also interested in the bus service from Riva to Verona, does anyone have any further info? I don't suppose there's a website?

APT is the bus operator around Garda.

http://www.apt.vr.it/ is the web site, but it is in Italian only.

Go to "servizi touristici" and a list of local services comes up.
Click on them to get timetables.

The prices are too complicated for me! but you may manage.

    Enjoy Garda!
