Tesco: Proof of purchase

I bought a computer monitor from Tesco 2 years ago. It has now broken and is still under warranty but I cannot find the receipt. Tesco claims I cannot even use their technical helpline without a receipt!
Unfortunately, I have also moved banks in the meantime so I don't have a bank statement. However, I used my Tesco Clubcard when I purchased the monitor. Will the Clubcard provide proof of purchase?

The Clubcard can be used...I'm not sure how long they keep clubcard records for though. I would try and see if there's another way, last time I had to get proof of purchase from a clubcard record, it took them 45 minutes!Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

Who made the monitor ?
Just ring the manufacture , they will know by the serial number when it was made and will probably be able to sort you out allot quicker than Tesco0 -
Instore we used to be able to search back 3 months for transactions with a clubcard, but it is now only 30 days. I'm not sure if Clubcard themselves can go back further.0

I've emailed the manufacturer 3 times and had no response from them at all.
I don't do phone calls, due to a disability, so I can't phone them.
The monitor is made by Iqon and I think they were only sold through Tesco in England at the time. According to the Iqon website, they are only available from Tesco so it's a bit annoying that Tesco are insisting on proof of purchase.0 -
Ahh Iqon have gone bust you need to deal with Tesco0
-
Thanks, that's useful to know.
Does Tesco know that too? They keep telling me to contact Iqon.0 -
I dont know what Tesco know
You may want to print this off and take it with you...

Thanks, I'll do that.
I get the impression that Iqon were only ever sold through Tesco in England. So proof of purchase seems rather unnecessary.0 -

They probably want it to validate the fact that you were the original purchaser of the equipment.
For example, if the monitor went faulty but you purchased it from a friend then Tesco would only have to deal with the original purchaser as they have no contract with you.
Though as you say you bought it yourself Tesco will want a proof of purchase to show the date so that they can try and trace it themselves, but i'd wait to see what clubcard say.[DISCLAIMER: Any posts made by myself are my opinions and do not represent my employer]

Right now I am so far behind I will probably never be allowed to die!0 -
Update and a few questions.
Clubcard claim they cannot provide any information about purchases, just the number of points I have.
I have sent 4 emails to the Iqon technical support site (details provided by Tesco) but I have received no response.
If Iqon is no longer trading, does the retailer/supplier automatically become responsibe?
Although I have not got the receipt, I can produce a bank statement proving that I spent x amount of money at Tesco on that day. However, because I bought the monitor along with my weekly shopping, the amount I spent is more than the cost of the monitor.
Has anyone ever phoned the Tesco technical helpline? Do they ask for your receipt? How do you show them the receipt over the phone?0
