I nearly fell of my chair and died laughing last week, which would not have been very good considering Id just been refused life insurance due to to my age, and weight etc...
"You are overweight for your age" the geezer said... then I pointed out that Ive been doing 8hrs at the gym every week for over 2 years and I couldnt possibly be considered fat....
Unfortuantely for me thats not on the charts.. is ti!!!!
Why do insurance companies only focus on your negative health status, and not reward you or take into account a healthy lifestyle.. surely its better for them if you are reducing your risks of premature death due to a poor lifestyle.....

Do you have any other health issues?
Your height/weight ratio is well within underwriting norms - so wouldn't have been taken into account for refusing you coverI am a Financial Adviser specialising in Mortgages, Protection, Health and Medical Insurance. Can you name and shame the offending company, because your BMI is nowhere near the "overweight" margin.0 -
what arent you telling us? that BMI is spot on for insurance. which company did you use??0

As above, the decline reason will not be your height/weight unless the insurer was misread what you put on the form or its been input incorrectly.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0

What is this fascination? How can you "name and shame" when you do not know the full details?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

I assume that the full details will be forthcoming, and will include the name of the company. We are on the "Money saving expert" forum, so the name of the company is hardly a "fascination", but relevant to other people who may be shopping around for the same product.0 -

You are massively missing the point.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
The point being that why should a company be named and shamed when its probable that the information is wrong. Either not full disclosure of the medical reasons by the OP or a mistake in the data input with the insurer (which could be the OP's fault, the insurers fault or the adviser's fault, if one used).

It is unusual to be refused completely sometimes a policy is loaded if you have an existing condition0
