if you open the PC now you should be able to see if there is another lead (the wide one) that is unused coming out of your existing drive, this will plug into the extra drive, the power ones may also have an unused lead coming off the old drive as well
the 2nd drive needs a little plug on the back moving to the slave positionEx forum ambassador

Hi
Just assuming that you only have one cable, and its being used by your 2 drives. On an ide cable, you can fit 2 devices, so if you already have a spare cable, as Browntoa says just plug it into that one, if not then you will have to buy one.0 -
found this :-Fitting a second hard disk/CD device as slave
Setting jumpers:
The jumpers on the original drive (or the drive you want to be the main C: drive) need to be changed to master.
The jumpers on the new drive (or the drive you wish to set as yourdrive) need to be set to slave.
Connecting leads:
Follow the ribbon cable from the current drive. On this cable there should be a spare free connector. Connect the new drive to the cable via this connector.
Make sure that the ribbon cable is connected so that the marked edge of the cable is next to pin 1 (usually the edge of the connector closest to the power socket). Also there may be a small 1 or triangle printed on the circuit board next to where the pin 1 edge of the connector joins the circuit board on the base of the hard drive.
There should be an unused power lead inside the case and this can be connected to the drive. A power lead splitter will need to be used if there is not a free power lead. These can be purchased

Hi
On the back of the drive is a little plastic jumper, just pull it out and set it to either slave or master, if its on its own cable with nothing else, set to master.0 -
1. Jumper Block
2. Slave setting
the above is an example, the paperwork for the drive will show you the positions for your driveEx forum ambassador

Your welcome, and I'm sure you'll fit it no problem, are you sure you can't be tempted with the dvd writer, and that way you could even get rid of your cdr, as you won't need it.0
