Arrive at 10:45 for £37.50
Megabus to Cardiff £12 + Cardiff-Swansea Rail £8.200 -
Travelling to London from Brum NS on Tues June 11th and need to be at Euston around 9.30/10am ideally.
There is a London Midland train for £14.00 leaving at 7.14 but it takes 2hrs 14 mins :-(
Was wondering if there is any likelyhood of a (faster) Virgin operated train being brought down in price ( from the £52 currently to allow me to get to get to Euston in time or do they never reduce these peak morning trains ?
Thanks in anticipation of your response(s).0 -

Checking on the 'Best Fare finder' part of the Virgin Website by expanding the tab 'find out when to buy advance tickets' tab about half way down the page suggests that Advance fares for that week are 'non reservable' although tickets for the following weekend are available.

I'm afraid I'm not sure of the significance of those dates being marked as 'non-reservable' (rather than 'not yet available for reservation' ) - perhaps some wiser soul on this board can shed some light ?0 -

Well given that £52 is described as an 'advance' fare I'd say there is almost zero chance of it coming down in price. I doubt if it will go up either - not until much nearer the date - so it might be worth hanging on a week or so just in case there's been a glitch in the release schedule.
Not sure why it should be non-reservable though
Might be worth checking out Chiltern from Moor Street to Marylebone? Not sure how their peak fares pan out0 -

Other options:-

Having actually now looked at the Virgin fare finder results (to the right hand side of the linked page in my previous post) it looks like the cheapest tickets have actually been released for 11th, despite what the release schedule says. Unfortunately, the cheapest fares to get you to london in time leave very early - there are £15 Advance single fares showing for the 05.29 or 05.50, getting to London at 07.02 or 07.13 respectively. The cheapest fare seems to be £7.50, but is not available until later in the day (the first such doesn't get you to London until 12.54)0 -

0754 is London Midland taking well over two hours - OP did not want that0 -
Thanks all, appreciate you guys looking into it......seems like it will have to be the slow London Midland train then.0
