I need some help on split ticketing, please
.
My husband & I have to go to a wedding in Cornwall. Neither of us drive.
Route would be Reading to Redruth on 21/07 returning 22/07.
We need to be in Redruth by 1pm at the very latest.
It is a long journey (and based on the nearest weekend currently available, 14th/15th July, will cost us £217!!!!!) much more than hotel, gift, outfit combined!
We are too old for yp, too young for senior and have no kids, so no f&f.
Where is it best to split the journey?
Thanks in advance !:money:0 -

So that £173.00 for two adults... a saving of £44.00.
That ticket is available now or on the day... same price.
Catch the 07:57 Reading departure and arrive at Redruth at 12:50 with no changes.
Looking at the weekend 7/8 July, you can find Advance Singles at £33.50 each on the same outward train.
If you don't mind getting back to Reading on the Sunday until 22:36, then Advance Singles are available at £15 each.
So if those fares become available for your weekend, then that trip can be done for £97.00 return for two people.
I would wait a few days to see what Advance Singles do become available, remembering that the Super Off Peak Returns will always be available.
Of course, with Advance Singles you must travel on the booked trains.

does anyone know if 'advance' tickets are available as soon as a date is released? The dates above have just 'gone live', but it is only showing off peak. I will try to be patient. Thanks again for your help.:money:0

Advance Singles are not always released at the nominal 12 weeks... especially at weekends.
Engineering works may not be finalised until later, much later, thus delaying the release of Advance tickets.
I've just looked at w/end 14/15 July and your trip can be done then for £44 each return. These tickets weren't available when you asked last Monday.
Again... be patient... a few more days... before next Friday I predict.0 -
Looking for a day return to London from Liverpool arriving around 10am and leaving around 6pm. Have a young person railcard, seems that it costs very little extra to travel first class ( although this is not essential, more of a treat!), so the cheapest first class ticket seems to be £49.... Can anyone see how to do it cheaper?
Many thanks0 -
Sorry should be 12th May....ie saturday!0

Just had a look on www.nationalrail.co.uk and the price comes up as £36.70 for a Standard Class Off-Peak return. As it's a Saturday, shouldn't matter which train(s) you use - just an off-peak ticket. If you can afford the First Class, at £49 return can't be bad ....0

Only valid on Virgin Trains. Only available on a Saturday.
Covers all your bus and tube travel in London too.
Sorry, no first class equivalent that I can find.
Edited to add:
If you don't mind arriving at Euston at 10:45, and you can leave Euston at 17:46, and you don't mind a four hour trip each way, then it can be done using London Midland Only Advance Singles for £19.50 return with railcard. That's Standard Class.
Using First Class London Midland Only Advance Singles on the same trains and that fare rockets to £32.35 return.0 -
