Hey there...could someone please help me with the following:

3 adults, 1 with a Young Persons Railcard and 1 with a Diasbled Adults Railcard, Travelling on August 12 morning (arriving no later than 1pm) from London to Manchester.

The same people then returning on August 12 evening (departing no earlier than 8.30pm) from Manchester to London.

Don't mind travelling by train or coach.

I am having a very hard time finding cheap fares for this route, so all and any help will be much appreciated!

    Thanks :-)

I was thinking of having a long w/end in St Ives in August and although I could quite easily drive down there I fancy giving the train a try. I live in Scunthorpe so at trainline I typed in Scunthorpe to St Ives I think the cheapest return is £126 ish could be cheaper depending on travel times, not sure on that. On the price list it said single from £22 tried typing in all kinds of times and dates but it never got anywhere near £22 best I think was £103 However, I broke the journey down from Scun to Donny to sheffield to birmingham to exeter to St Ives and in total one way it came to £38.40. using july dates. Haven't priced up the return yet, the only thing that bothers me is that some of the connections are tight, if I missed a connection would I have to buy another ticket? If I was to go by train am I thinking along the right lines to get it cheaper?

I'm currently commuting from West Croydon (Zone 5) to Epsom (just outside London zones). Because I also use the bus, my ticket costs about £75 for a monthly but excluding the bus it costs £67.20? I have a Young Persons Railcard as well as a student photocard but none of these entitle me to any discounts. Would anyone have any advice on how I could reduce my monthly expense?

    Many thanks

P.S A daily return costs £5 so its not worth purchasing them daily

20:17 Liverpool Lime Street to Milton Keynes Central - £18.50 FIRST CLASS (thats the cheapest ticket available)

Wow, wish I'd found this thread beore, could have saved me a fortune! Thanks for all the links - have bookmarked quite a few.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any ways to save on Merseyrail fares? I travel from Birkdale to Liverpool Central, workdays at peak times. At the moment I'm paying daily. By the time I've taken into account holidays & meetings elsewhere (often short notice) I find I'd usually pay about the same if I bought a monthly rail only pass, if I have a day of sick I'd lose out! Considering getting an annual pass on a 6 months intrest free credit card (6 months struggling to pay it off, 6 months feeling rich!) but would love to hear any other ideas...

I will shortly be having to commute daily and for the foreseeable future between Vauxhall (central London) to Burnham-on-Crouch (Essex) at peak times. Does anyone already travel a similar route and/or know of ways of reducing the cost of this journey? Any advice (preferably via email) will be much appreciated. Thanks.
