Looking for train tickets from Edinburgh or Glasgow to London for two people on the 20th October in the morning sometime, and back on the 22nd October early evening. Best I have managed to find is

National express east coast Edinburgh to London
    20th 11:00 £48.10
    22nd 18:00 £85.40

    Total £133.50 for two people

If anyone can help us find it cheaper it would be much appreciated :)

    Have you thought about flying?
Less than £120 for two from either Glasgow or Edinburgh to Luton or Stanstead.
Ok, you still have to get from airport into London, but maybe the time saved will compensate. You decide.

    No.

Lol yes thanks Keith, I did mean rail travel. Any chance you could elaborate a bit, i.e. up to what age can a child travel free?

According to National Rail: "2 children under the age of 5 can travel free with each fare paying passenger".

Wow that's good, because at least one of them would be occupying their own seat. My friend has two but I'm not sure whether the elder one is five yet. Many thanks for the info.
    - I wasn't sure where to find it.

Hi folks, hope you can help.

I'm looking to travel from Aberdeen to Liverpool by any means.(2 people)

Leave on Friday 25th afternoon/evening, arrive Saturday morning.

Bus isn't really an option due to the timescale.

Best I can find is £170 train journey with a couple of changes.

I'd be willing to travel from Edinburgh/Glasgow as long as I've got enough time to get there.

Happy to fly but can't find any flights.

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Use the NXEC website, as it gives you a 10% discount as your travelling on one of there advance tickets;

Put Aberdeen to Liverpool Lime st and click 'more options' select 'via' and add York do your search for 25th after 12:00 and you should get

Leave Aberdeen 14:49 arrive Liverpool LS 22:58 advance single £99.70 for 2 adults, there's also a later train for the same price if your brave :p

  • thetrainline dot com is good. Try and book tickets as early as you can before your proposed travel date and try to travel off peak. It's much easier to book online.

qjump dot co dot uk for buying tickets online is also worth a shot.

I'm afraid that's seriously BAD:embarasse advice. Both those organisations charge you a fee for booking and/or delivery.

You can buy the self same tickets from any train operator's website without paying any extra - and occasionally get a discount as well.
