Re. The above, would a route from Leamington Spa to Leighton Buzzard or Coventry to Leighton Buzzard allow for groupsave (4 for 2 tickets)? The groupsave website is very vague.

Coventry to Leighton Buzzard - yes, but London Midland only. Not Virgin

From Leamington - no. Cross Country don't participate

There are a few of us looking at getting from Leamington Spa to Leighton Buzzard and back on Saturday 25th.

Looks to me like our only bet is paying the full whack of £19.60. I've looked at splitting the ticket at Coventry, and the London Midland services offer a £12 return from Coventry but that would seriously limit our options for getting back as we want to leave after about 5.30pm and the only valid train would be at about 8.30pm. We're not waiting that long!

Anyone got any suggestions? We'd like to leave Leamington about 11 or 12, and return about 5.30pm.

I think you are looking up the times wrong - there are several trains between 530pm and 830pm on which £12.00 fares are valid - 1736, 1742, 1836 and 1936.

To find them you may need to specify route Northampton

Isn't the £12 you quote for a single? And an offpeak return valid at anytime on a Saturday is only £19.60.

Nope - £11.90 is the single fare (LM off peak); £12 return (again LM off peak)

OP didn't want to pay the more expensive fare that also allows travel on Virgin.

    No worries.

The fares are from Coventry BTW, not Leamington. Didn't look them up.

Trying to get cheap fare from Plymouth to Birmingham on 14th July returning on 17th July. According to the website advance tickets are available on FGW up to 18th July.
However I can get £19.50 advance single on 14th but none on the 17th. What am I doing wrong? Also can I use the FGW £5 off PIN code with these fares?

Now I can get £19.50 back but not out

    Help

A £19.50 advance single is available as I type on the 15:21 Plymouth departure on 14 July (it is the only £19.50 time left on that day). As you say, there are many £19.50 times on 17th July.
    This info from NXEC site.

This 15:21 ex Plymouth price is also shown on FGW site... for £5 discount.

Thanks all, yeah the national rail website wasn't showing the cheaper fares on the way back without specifying the N'ton route. Ta!

Well this advance ticket business does seem a bit of a lottery!
Now there are many £19.50 tickets for the outbound leg, but none at all for the return leg. Again, this is from NXEC site.
