Ooh yes, try crochet. Best thing there is. Makes you look really talented and clever but really it is dead easy!
nuttywoman - have a go, it's the first time that seems overwhelming. Can be a bit of a fiddle but nowhere near as much as doing it by hand.
I'm kind of hoping to get one through Freecycle or a boot sale or something.0 -
can anyone give me some advice on what to look for?
I am new to machine knitting, and can only knit very bascially by hand.

look for bond Incredible sweater/ultimate sweater machine /bond classic that sort of thing.
They are very easy to use and you see spares quite often. They seem to go for about £20 and there are always some on there.0 -
if it is a used machine make sure there are no damaged needles as they can spoil your work and will need replacing0

What do you want to know?
I have used brother and knitmaster (silver reed) for 20 years! I have 2( standard guage and a chunky) in daily use.
I dont know anything about bond though.0 -
Bond were a good brand in their day. Not sure how easy it is to get spares though so you need to do some research on that before buying.0

Hello
Im not sure where to put this post but any tips or answers would be great :money:
I have a KH- 830 knitting machine, Im having real difficulty casting on?!?
I tried lots of different methods such as by hand, using a nylon thread and using a casting on comb.
When i use the casting on comb and with the other methods i run the caridge across and it threads most of the needles but it keeps missing some!! Its driving me MAD!! I really wanted to get some knitting done over the summer as my hand knitting is sooooo slow!
Also i dont have a manual, so if anyone can direct me to where i can find one you would be a true star. . . I did find one once but now i cant find it?!?!
HUGE THANKS IN ADVANCE!!

Ive sort of found a manual but its for a 836 i dont know how much they differ. But i thought i would post the website as it has loads of free manuals. . .

At least then we can drag out all of those old machines and get them up and running!!
