Asda grocery home delivery (or not!)

  • the banks are not being honest here i think
  • Has anyone else noticed a recent change in the quality of service on the asda grocery home deliveries?
I noticed the new web site seemed harder to navigate for me, but thought i would stick with it as i have always been ok with asda, never had a problem, until today.
My shopping was due between 5 and 7pm, and it never showed up, I rang the (very expensive) number at 7.15, no answer, tried again at 7.30, just after the asda van drove up my road, delivered to my neighbour literally 5 doors away, the DROVE OFF
The rather unhelpful lady on the end of the phone informed me that the shopping now all comes from a central store in Leeds, (25 miles away), and they were running late.
I asked how late, "oh about an hour and a half"
I told her this was unaaceptable and they hadn't even rung me to tell me this, (which they have in the past).
So, it's no longer a local store that delivers, my shopping has been running around west yorkshire for over 4 hours in a van (it's just turned up now 9pm!!, Hubby told them we've cancelled order so they have had to go all way back).
I told lady on phone that it was a total waste of petrol and time for the van to deliver to my neighbour then go back to leeds and then come back to me, crazy! Told them I wont use them again, i am disabled and its only way i can get my shopping if hubby is at work, but i will use sainsburys now.
To make things worse, the only way to contact them is the 5p per minute phone number.
    Not impressed.

I have the same problem no one contacted me, no emails, no apologies. The 0844 customer service have no idea what is going on and just wasted my money waiting for the queue. I had to rang them a couple of times as my order did not arrive after waiting for 3 hours for a two hour delivery slot. After an hour, I then rang the branch responsible, they promised me then van was out and I will get my deliveries, but again I waited until midnight for a 7-9 pm slot no one turn up or call back. Its like a sick joke where the staff told you the groceries will turn up and you waited for 5 hours for nothing. By that time all the home shopping staff went home and when I rang the branch they have no idea what is going on leaving me clueless and for sure I am not getting my groceries. I will definitely stop ASDA shopping. Really annoying and frustrating. I hope everyone don't get in the situation like this. I have used Tesco, Sainsbury and Waitrose they are way better and will ring and text you when they are late. Avoid ASDA at all cost.

My problems with Asda weren't that bad, but the one time I used them for delivery they forgot all my frozen items. They brought them the next day, but I didn't even get an apology.

they did exactly the same thing to me last week ! they emailed a free delivery code for my next order.

  • I tried Asda. They took the payment twice from my account then delivered it two hours late. Never again.

I stopped using Tesco years ago after they left an £110 delivery on my doorstep. Well actually on the door step of the block of flats I was living in at the time. Quite a lot of it had been taken. My delivery was due at 7pm. I got back at 6.30pm to find chaos. They denied any responsibility saying I'd signed for the delivery. Never been in one of thier stores or used them for anything since.

No problems with Saisnburys and thinking of giving Ocado a try as I have a voucher
  • Stopped using Asda a few months back. Yes, items can be cheaper but just was not worth the hassle.

Late deliveries, missing items, terrible customer service.... Never had a problem with payments being taken twice but I have heard about them authorising the transaction with the bank and holding on to the money wasn't this on watchdog?? Or similar.

I now pay the deliver saver monthly rate with Tesco and it's a breeze! Drivers also seem so much nicer and more helpful. Tesco have also just sent me an email about priority Christmas slots.

I have used sainsburys and did not have any problems, just that they work out more expensive and do not price match on substitutes like tesco (and asda)

I've used Sainsburys, Waitrose and Ocado. My vote is for Ocado - I think if you're careful and shop the deals it doesn't work out more expensive. Either way the service is so good its worth it - I'm in an upstairs flat and they deliver to my kitchen - in and out in no time and you can ask for refunds online and they don't charge until about 48 hours later when you're happy with everything.

I've also had a good experience with Waitrose and Sainsburys, but found the whole shopping and delivery experience to be far far easier with Ocado.
  • The last time I used Asda for home delivery they sent me some mince with a use by date of that day and was already looking past its best. They refunded without any argument. That was the only real problem we've had with them. Once, I got a chap at the door around two hours before the delivery slot, the driver had been delivering two doors down and instead of wasting fuel had decided to see if I was in.
