We've had a few spends so far this month, but its a bit of an odd one what with partners Mum staying as she goes out and picks bits up and won't let us pay for anything. I did pop yesterday to get some salad bits as I am off work for the week.

    Huge Cos lettuce-39p
    8 mini cucumbers-74p
    500g vine tomatoes-21p
    5 large pittas-29p
£1.63-not too bad at all and will keep us going for salad with dinner tonight and salad sandwiches tomorrow.

I had to go into the city centre to collect my prescription and 'discovered' that we have a B&M!! I did remember the Grocery Challenge so I only spent 20p on two jars of Sharwoods Thai sauce, £1.50 on a massive dark Toblerone and £1.30 on female essentials. So I only have £49 left!!

This afternoon I made mushroom pate for my lunches; in a bit am going to start work on a bottle of wine ;) whilst I make French onion soup for tomorrow's dinner. Tonight is yet more leftovers - rice from last night and turkey in white sauce from the freezer.

What are the rules on coupons? It makes sense for my next shop to be Tesco as the Clubcard stuff arrived - they sent a £9 off a £60 spend coupon, and I will be doubling up points to get £20 of wine. So would need to pick up £40 of food of which I will only actually need to pay £31 ... do I count that as a £31 or a £40 spend??

So far we've spent £161.73 out of our £300. Not bad but my list of things we need is getting longer. Need at some point to sort out my store cupboard as it is full of bags of dried beans etc that have been in there ages unused. We could be using them up!

As far as I'm aware the GC has no rules on anything - everyone sets their own.

My personal choice has been to knock the value of coupons off my spend, and only declare the money I actually hand over. But when I buy a newspaper for a grocery voucher I charge the paper to my GC budget. (If I buy one for a CD/DVD - which is the only other reason I ever buy one - it get's charged to my 'anything else' budget, which is what I use to buy CDs/DVDs :) )

    Hi all
taka cheesy pinwheels are just rolled out puff pastry spread with mustard and grated cheese, rolled up like a swiss roll, sliced and cooked. They make a nice change from just plain pastry.
MrsM thanks for that recipe I will definately be trying that when we get some blackberries which should be soon. We all love the corned beef hash and getting soup from it as well is a real bonus, it is the only way we have corned beef now
as just slicing it means I only get 1 meal from 2 tins and I can't have that everything has to do at least 2 meals now ( Iam getting so mean lol)
    Hugs

konMarie and fabbing all the way

I agree - I only count what I hand over. I work for a supermarket and get 10% discount but I count what I actually give over and not the top line. Actually I dread to think what it would be if I didnt get discount or coupons etc!

Ok so my spends for the last day or so are a total of £25.78 taking the months total up to ............ £67.21 smiley-shocked003.gif
    Emma

    Aug GC - £88.17/£130
NSD - target 18 days, so far 5!!
