Has any one made the bakewell in a bag?
I am about to make it and looking at the instructions I just need a bit of advice. It says to bake for 25-30 minutes at 200C/400F/Gas 6, or until the tart filling is firm and pale golden-brown and the pastry is crisp and golden-brown. Then it says when the Bakewell tart is cooked, reduce the oven temperature to 160C/310F/Gas 3 and continue to cook the Bakewell tart with the oven door open. It doesn't say for how long! It then goes on to say once it is cooked take it out of the oven and leave to cool.
I have orderd the book but it hasn't arrived yet I got the recipe off the BBC website.
Thanks
Anne

luscious -it also suits a dousing of icing sugar once it's cooled down.'
Hope that is clearer Anne.
I must say that although I already practise what the book preaches I think the book looks like a fab addition to my collection. Each recipe has a colour picture.

Oops! I'm going to have to buy it now-I love cook books, read them like novels-and I have seen in previous threads that you feel the same so thats a recommendation indeed.
Off to amazon now (curses to sites that save card details making purchasing SO easy and not feeling like you hand over any cash)
Oh actually, have to go into town so may browse it in the shops and see if can resist actually handing over the cash to have it in my hands straight away!! even though it will be more expensive!!:eek:0 -

Really easy to make and tastes lovely would make again.
Thriftlady - can't wait for the book now. I too have a weakness when it comes to cookery books. Thanks again for your help.

My mum used to make bakewell without the almond somehow as we all had asthma and allergies so were told to avoid all nuts just in case. I think she just did a plain sponge mix, but don't know if that would rise up too much?
Any ideas?
