Do you think the escalope that they made on Tuesday night could be made in the oven?
I dont usually fry anything but if the Merrett chicken bucket didnt work in the oven then this one might not either.2 adults and 3 children DD (14), DD (12) & DS (10) :smileyhea and 2 mental beagles.

That the kid's a homosexual?
I dont mean any offence,I only heard the term from my OH when the prog was on,he said it was what a child to a gay couple was called. If people insist on being called gay(a term I absolutly hate as when I was a child many years ago it meant happy and bright and had no sexual conatations but now I feel unable to use the word in that sense )then why object to their children being called gaybys?Surely it is better for people to be aware of a child of same sex parents as otherwise questions about mummy or daddy could be embarassing for the child? The new law on same sex"marriages"and adoptions seems to have opened a whole can of worms.
to finish this serious note I repeat I dont have any interest in what people get up to in the privacy of their own homes.0 -

Let's be honest, questions about a parent (most often Daddy) can be just as difficult for a child in a single parent family !!! The pre-school nursery my younger GD has just left (to start school) were aware that she only has a Mummy - no contact from her Dad by his choice - so when the children made Father's Day cards (with a "No. 1 Daddy" design) she made a "No. 1 Grandma" card for me instead, as I'm the other adult she has most contact with........
My eldest (her Mummy) came home with projects for Daddy when she was little - and we had tears over it more than once as she didn't "have" a Daddy either (though in this case access was denied by the courts due to his violence)Cheryl0 -
Does anyone have the recipe for the broccolli and pasta dish. They've made it a couple of times now, once on the program with Jourdan and his mum and on this weeks program. Can't seem to find it on the BBC website.
ETA I thought Jourdan was an absolute credit to single mum Jenni, and thought Douglas and Jonathan were doing a similarly fantastic job with Ellie/Ellen?0 -

Because it's a pejorative name, foisted upon the poor kid by people who would rather see a tag than a person. Why attach "gay" to the child at all?
Mind, if you want to stick a pink triangle on the child or whatever, so everyone's aware of their status, then that's a whole other discussion.....
[EDIT: please know that this is not a personal attack by any means! Just something I feel fairly strongly about - I appreciate your opinion and comments]

Because we don't call children from "straight" relationships "Heterobabies", or single parents kids "singabys".
I don't see why it's necessary to use a term like that - and I'm sure other people would have more issue with it than the child will to be quite honest with you.
I also find the term gayby offensive. Why did you write marriages with " around it? I don't think that's necessary!
For those complaining about the thread going off topic - unfortunately that happens from time to time. People say things, other people respond. I don't think it is off topic as such, because we are still discussing an aspect of the show
We are discussing differing opinions on a family who appeared in the show, so to me that's relevant. Bickering is unpleasant yes, but that's how it goes sometimes when people disagree. Personally I think it was great a same sex couple appeared and opened peoples eyes up. Fair play to them.A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

I've cooked the bucket of chicken recipe in the oven and it wasn't nice!. Tasted really spicy and the coating didn't seem cooked. Family decided it was one recipe that really did need deep frying( most things in our house are grilled or cooked in the oven without fat or oil)
Used a fan oven, stood the chicken on a wire grill to cook - came out fine
Mind, might use a gently modified spice mix next time......0 -

No it was more like cook some broccolli, whiz some stuff up in a blender (parsley, basil, capers ???) and pour it over your cooked pasta. It was called Garganelle (?) pasta I think0
