Well, they've set us some good examples I think. What about thinking of your own tumbledown, bedrock recipes for Christmas, you can also follow through the themes of using everything you buy and planning what you need.
Readership here is probably quite a lot of people that do that any way, but looking for new meal ideas or a new take on something. Also there will be a certain number still acquiring these skills. Sit on the bus and think about it, or whereever you do your thinking!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

TT - Great idea Purpleivy
Turkey roast dinner
Tumble down some to Jamies chicken and leek pie (to die for ) Bulk out with extra seasonal veg (suitable for bxing day its that good! Mum said best thing ive ever made)
Some to those fish cakes which are made from chicken but make them with turkey (they begin with R?)
Some to plate pies with simple white sauce and veg - turkey, bacon/ham & white sauce?
Rest for sandwiches and freeze for February supply of turkey related food
Carcass for roasting, then stock, then soup. YUM.
Maybe this is a thread on its own - Turkey tumbledowns? Or is there a separate christmas thread? Tired to look right now.A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

We usually have a piece of boiled bacon/gammon/ham at Christmas, so that would create its own tumbledowns, turkey and ham pie/pasties/vols au vent/quiche errrrrmmmm
Or you could be very idle like we are and just eat meat cold with warmed up veg the first day and then pickles etc after that."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Oh i am liking the sounds of the Turkey tumbledowns.
I usually only have a small breast joint and either a lamb leg or some beef on christmas day so i could make a few tumbledowns out of the lamb as there is always loads left(and i love a lamb curry and scotch broth).:rotfl:
We could start an actual tumbledown thread with all sorts of ideas to tumbledown allsorts really.
Some of you seem to be naturals at making another meal out of something(i am not very good at that:o). I am not sure if there is another thread like it.
I have most of the EG programmes recorded on my sky plus, as my mum always misses it and i show her when she visits lol plus i can look back at them as they won't be on the iplayer that long.0 -

Got my book today and have to say that after flicking through a few pages I am not overwhelmed with it. I think it's more to do with the look and feel of it, I can only describe it as 'drab' with no glossy shiny pictures. Only 7 dessert / sweet recipes and two of those are the cookies that have been well discussed in this thread). If I had seen it in a shop and flicked through it, I most definitely would not have felt inspired to buy it. So anyone else who is in two minds, I would suggest go to a shop and have a leaf through it before committing yourself.Mortgage
