I would happily buy one if it was all boned and cut in half with heads and tails removed though.
Waitrose will even slash the fish and insert flavoured butter pats into the cuts and give you some lemon slices with it plus tell you how to cook it.0 -

Any fishmonger will do this sort of thing for you. It's best not to ask when there's a queue of twenty behind you, but it is an accepted part of the service you get at fishmongers. If you want the bones and trimmings for stock just say...but if you don't want the head bit just say that too! He or she will be well used to this.
Also...if you want any sort of fish trimmings for stock the fishmonger will usually be able to provide plenty. It's polite to be buying something else while doing this though, not just ask for freebies. I'm lucky to have an amazing fishmonger and he's got all sorts of things through the back just for the asking, including what he calls "!!!!! pieces", lol, which are scruffy looking scraps of this and that for 50p per pound, for pampered pets. Have to say though they're still 100% fresh and a few bits have been put into my stock pot before now!
Edit. This forum won't accept the word puss...y! It thinks it's rude and puts in !!!!! instead! Puss-y pieces, okay?Val.0 -

The actual diet part of the book consists of 7 meals per season most of which are modern recipes using foods that weren't available during rationing. It doesn't give you any guidance about daily diet. It really isn't a diet you can follow in the usual sense. There are some authentic recipes and it is well illustrated.0 -

As to taking friends to the park, I wouldn't have considered doing this due to due to limits on numbers you can care for - as this includes your own (which I don't have - my 'baby' is 18) I assumed it included any 'hangers-on' anyway.Cheryl0 -

I was brought up in the 80s and 90s (I was born in 1978), oh and I'd probably be classed as middle class... but I'm still thrifty and have been for as long as I can remember!0 -

Well i am freakys sister and i know she doesn't like them BUT she was like me years ago when dh went on about getting one when we moved and it was a big no no..we do now have one and i have to say i couldn't live without it (well i could but ykwim!) The only things i can think of that have come out scratched are glasses and forks BUT we have realised the glasses are from storing them inside each other in the cupnoards and the forks are from the knives we sometimes use as they are sharp steak ones. Everything else is fine and although it doesn't clean everything perfectly- 90% of the time it is very good. I always read things like my sisters responce until people actually get one and their opinion changes..like mine!!0
