Be great if the council go to 2 weekly rubbish collections to not have food waste in the bins though;)
We have 2 weekly bin collections, have done for the last 18 months 2 years, the only food waste that ever goes into my landfill bin is bones after i have boiled them to death for stock. If they are wrapped in newspaper after this then put into a sealed bag there is no smell.
In fact I only put my landfill bin out approx once every 2-3 months, I am averaging 250 - 300g of landfill rubbish per week (1 carrier bag).
Everything else is either recycled (beit council collection or myself taking it to the recycling facility) or composted in the councils garden waste collection bin.My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman0 -
Whats wrong with dropping your kids off earlier and getting there at 9? I have worked with a lot of women with kids and thats what they used to do. As for the end of the day if they couldn't pick them up after school finishes they would work through lunch and leave at 4.
Besides anyone who saw Econ Gastron saw that this womens kids were all able to get to school by themselves? We used to. I cannot understand the pampering. IN my day it was unheard of to take taxis to school. Even the special school up the road used buses and coaches.we used to go to the nearest one and walk. Why can't people do that now?
DS2's old school has a written policy that children are not under school supervision until 8.50am, so if they are left in the grounds before then it is the parents responsibilty.
This is the local village school and we live 1½ miles away down a country lane that I wouldn't walk down never mind let my children walk down. (too many speeding cars as we live on an old RAF camp with approx 200 houses)My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).

Same here mama67, my childrens school has a policy that you are not allowed to leave unsupervised on the school grounds until 8.50am when they officially become the schools responsibilty until 3.30pm. Its an insurance requirement appraently, if anything happens to your child before 8.50am and you've chosen to leave them there unattended then its your fault and the school accept no liability - fair enough too I reckon, they arent babysitters.WW Start Weight 18/04/12 = 19st 11lbsWeight today = 17st 6.5lbsLoss to date 32.5lbs!!!0

I have been watching this but each week have got more and more annoyed with the families. Do you think they are for real? Each week they say because of their circumstances they need to cut down and yet they need to be told that they can cut down on their feed spending.
This weeks lot spending £400 a week - surely they must realise that that is an awful lot to spend? Neither of them seemed stupid so are the producers putting them up to it?
The woman is at home all day and has no under school age children so has plenty of time to cook. Even if she is not that keen on cooking surely she could spend some time planning meals and making food?
Of course people are entitled to spend what they like on food but £400 a week is ridiculous especially if a lot of it is being wasted and, as I say, if they need to cut back surely this silly spending would be one of the first ways to do so.The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -

In our local area I have had problems getting a taxi when experiencing tranport issues getting to job interviews in remote places first thing in the morning and in the afternoon and the local cab firms say that all their taxis are taken up with school runs.:eek:
Darn, thanked instead of quoted  That'll be for children with special needs, though.

secondary schools finish at 2.30 pm?:eek::eek: Perhaps they should put a full day in and we wouldnt have so much problems with literacy and deliquency...
Mine finish at 3.50pm to allow time for sports clubs, orchestra and drama groups etc etc. The teachers themselves don't get out till much later. When do you think they go to meetings etc?
I'm kind of assuming you don't have children yourself, btw, given that you don't seem to have much of an idea about the needs of kids, their safety or their day to day routine. perhaps it would be better to save your comments for something you knew a bit about, and could be helpful with? Otherwise you're just wasting everyone's time, including your own.Val.0 -

First trial of this was the year my elder son went into Y10 (I don't think it was Y11), so that would have been September 2003. The other secondary schools started with it a year or two later.Cheryl0 -

Or even many
Round here they start at 8.10 so as cw18 says, with shorter breaks they are attending for the same number of hours as when you attended school.0
