I think that it would be easy for a family to overspend on a monthly food budget. I have no idea how much we spend - but in September I'm going to try to keep it down to 300 pounds - there are 5 of us. Mainly as I don't like the idea of having to throw food away. Have got the book - will have to re read. Also - looked at how much it cost us to get to our local Tesco (my preferred supermarket) and as long as we get the shopping delivered at the cheapest time, it is cheaper for us to stay at home and get it delivered! Result!!!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

agree, every family is different and its good that they managed to cut it down , we cant compare ourselves to all the families that are going to be shown, thats unrealistic. if a one parent/one child family came on then they are going to have a heck of a lower budget than i would have for a family of two adults four children.
another thing we have to remember is that we dont know the background to their full finanaces. so if they dont have other expenses then they could afford to put more to the food budget.0
