But you didn't have to take it, if it was too much, or did he give you the 1.6kg a bit cheaper? He had already priced & cut it.
I agree that when you go in, you don't really know how much you're gonna spend, but I've never felt 'forced' to take more than I wanted.
I either go to the farm shop (slightly cheaper, but a bit out of the way) or the butcher (just down the road) and they're really helpful. Here's for our local shops :T0 -

I watched that Virgin Cooks program, after seeing competitionscafe's post. It was car crash tv. The presenter seemed to be getting frustrated at the monumental task, and at how the 2 cooks were faring even before they were given instructions for the big meal.
I switched off before the end as frankly I didn''t care what happened.
Roll on next Wednesday night.
It's only a game

Well got brave & ventured into the butchers.
I said I wanted 1.2 kg of lamb to stew/casserole (for Navrine of lamb).
He got out a shoulder said he would chop it for me & get rid of the bones & excess fat & it would make about 1.2 kg of lamb.
It actually made 1.6 kg & he charged me £12.00, is that good.
I bought a shoulder of Lamb yesterday. I then de-boned & de- fatted it and ended up with about 800g of meat, the lamb cost me £5.80. So that works out to be about the same price, and the butcher did all the hard work.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -
