    Thanks so much PC Helpman,

I'll have a good look through these texts now. The computer seems ok now. The only problem I'm having is with the broadband access late at night. I'm with Tiscali on ADSL broadband and its crap! Whether the problem is because its through the phoneline?

I was with Ntl and to be fair I never had much problem and it was fast. It was straight into a connection box that they installed for me. I left them when I moved house and went with BT. Any recommendations on a good broadband connection or could there be anyother reason why it keeps disconnecting after about 9pm?? every night???

    I'll miss conversing with you,
    Take Care
    ;)

Hmmm ... best broadband? As you rightly ask ... is this your current problem? Maybe not.

Tiscali don't exactly have the best reputation for broadband service but I can't say personally as I've never used them. No doubt others use Tiscali and find them OK. NTL .... again, not me but I know others use it and find it works for them. I wonder what will happen to customer service at NTL now after the massive shake up this week. My guess is it'll drop like a stone.

    Now ... your problem.

It may or may NOT be something to do with the BB connection. Maybe a fault in your hardware but, if the connection drop outs etc. always occur at the same time you might be right. If you want to change to another provoider I've used Force9 from PlusNet for the last couple of years, ever since I went on to BB, and I've never had any trouble. Force9 just last week racked up their download speed to 8meg at no extra cost. The PlusNet companies generally seem to get good write ups.

I believe they have a "try it and see" offer as well.

If you want to talk to them and see IF they can help here's their site ....

    http://www.f9.net.uk/

Phone number I used to use (haven't called them for a long time though) was 08451 400 250. It'll be on their site.

Have a look round threads on this site. The issue of "which broadband ISP is the best?" comes up often. Many people have differing opinions, as you would expect.

Hope this helps and make sure you stay protected from now on.

Yep ... the "thanks" botton is gone but I'm happy as long as you are.

    All the best.

    Hi PChelpman

Yes, I'm very happy now my PC seems to be running fine. Thanks ever so much for all your help. And thanks Browntoa for your help and advice also.

I'll check out F9. Unfortunately I'm tied into Tiscali for a few more months yet but will definitely check through the forum and change broadband provider as soon as my contract ends,

    Cheers for everything

    All the Best

Thanks for the suggestion but there was no VX2 anyway. The troubles were located elsewhere and are now all fixed.

However, you are right. There is a VX2 "add on" to Adaware but most HJT analysts tend to use the L2M Destroyer nowadays to fix that infection.
