Orchid dialler questions

A local call doesn't need an STD dialling code at the beginning so it can start with any digit from 2 up to 8 inclusive. The dialler recognises this and does what it needs to do...
2 up to 9, actually.
So "local call" didn't mean local call. It meant "same exchange call". Not the same thing!0 -
Still "creating" more problems (lol), given that there is a dial-up number 147*********** for my net service, is that a problem ?.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

If you want to use Onetel as an ntl subscriber you have to use a phonepal(?) plug in box. How does this work with the dialler? No reliance should be placed on the above.0

Hi Loftus
Re Onetel "phone pal" - it is a form of dialler, like the basic orchid product but it is pre-programmed only to use Onetel - it can be overridden (forgotten the numerical code - think it is 121) to enable you to use other CSP's like 1899. You just input the 0808 dialling code first, then the full phone number - a bit fiddly, hence the need for an Orchid V4 dialler.
If you get the Orchid dialler you just programme it to use Onetel for the type of call you are making (eg mobile or landline) at the times / days you choose to use them - you won't need to have the phone pal plugged in as well.

I think you'll find that most people describe a 'same exchange call' as a 'local call' - one they can make without having to include the STD code. 'Local call' may possibly be semantically inappropriate, but that's how things are sometimes. So "local call" didn't mean local call. It meant "same exchange call". Not the same thing!digital0 -
Do these only work with the ranger 400 phone they supply, they mention this phone along with the orchid diallers?0

No, I assume they will work with any phone (using both corded and cordless trio with mine) but I guess you may need to look at REN values if you have lots of devices running on a single line. The dialler can be powered by an external source if need be, it has a DC input.0

Cheers, just about to order the v2 or the v4 and register with 11886, do not know wether or not to have multiple operators or just the one, i do not make any Internation calls just local/national calls and also to mobiles...whats your thinking on thisNo, I assume they will work with any phone (using both corded and cordless trio with mine) but I guess you may need to look at REN values if you have lots of devices running on a single line. I went for the V4. For the extra £5 or so you get much more flexibility. 18866 are not cheapest for all calls: 1899 are cheaper for some and BT (shock!) for others. On that basis you need more than the one redirect that the V2 offers.Cheers, just about to order the v2 or the v4 and register with 11886, do not know wether or not to have multiple operators or just the one, i do not make any Internation calls just local/national calls and also to mobiles...whats your thinking on this
Plus, if you get the V2 now, and your needs change in the future, you will have to buy a V4 to replace the V2.digital0
