Ebay/Paypal Question Please

I haven't been on ebay for over a year, but i sold an item yesterday. It showed up as being paid for by Paypal, so I mailed it to the buyer this morning.
When I checked my Paypal account and clicked on 'Payments Received', it shows nothing and shows a balance of £0.00.
Will the payment take some time to clear or have I messed up?

Thanks in advance for any help or explanation you may be able to offer. x

Was your email address on the auction correct, did you get a paypal email to say that payment had been received? If you didn't get a paypal email how did you know where to send item anyway.

Is there nothing at all in your paypal when you log in, nothing pending etc?

Lastly, follow the link from the ebay auction page and see where it goes. If you log in from the wrong paypal address it will tell you.

I didn't get a Paypal email to say that the payment had been received. I clicked on 'View order details' to get the address to send the item to. (To the right of the Trolley icon, £ sign, Package icon).
When I hover over the £ sign is says 'Paid with Paypal on 27-02-27'.

I have nothing showing as pending in my Paypal account either.

I am able to view the order, and it shows that payment has been made. I'm so confused. Any help is appreciated.

If I go to 'My Ebay' page, the left hand column shows 'Selling Totals'
Underneath this is shows Current listed items, themn below that it shows Sold (in the last 31 days). Then it shows the payment that has been received which equals the amount I sold the item for minus the postage fee I charged.
    Does that even make sense?!

The ebay page just shows what they calculate your sales to be, so that is fine. Also, just as an aside never ever use the ebay address for posting, only the paypal one should be used and you'd be surprised how many people don't update their ebay one ever.

Back to the problem. It rather sounds like the paypal payment has gone to the wrong account, firstly can you please just pop back to the actual auction page and see what paypal address you have given in the payment section.

  • Is the Paypal account linked to your Ebay account correct? I'm just thinking you might have a typo in there, that's all.

That's what I suspect as well, it could be something simple like a hotmail.com address given when it should be hotmail.co.uk.

Thanks for the info with reference to the address details. I now have to just hope that the buyer hasn't changed address!

Sorry for being so dense, but where does it say what paypal address i have given? I can't see for looking! :o

If I go into my ebay and look at a recently paid item I'll talk you through from there.

Oh bother, all the usual tricks to see the address don't work on the new view. All I can suggest is to see if the correct address was used. So, click on 'print postage' and log in on th elink given to your paypal account. If the payment hasn't gone there it should say somehting baout the paypal account being incorrect. IF it lets oyu in then you should see the payment, so either way it narrows it down a bit.

If i log in to my paypal acoount, it shows as being a 'hotmail.co.uk' account - the same as my ebay account.

When I clicked on 'Print postage label', it took me to my paypal account. After i logged in, it said 'You cannot use the postage feature with this transaction. To send an item, please click the Send button by the item's entry in your History log'
  • Sorry soolin, didn't notice you'd already said that.
