Citi Financial Loan and PPI

Hi Friends, need your help again!
My OH took out a top-up unsecured loan in 2006 with Citi Financial. He ticked the boxes for 'I wish to purchase Optional Creditcare (Payment Protection Insurance) and 'I wish to purchase Optional Takecare Insurance'.
I am new to linking pictures so forgive me if this does not work
http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=135172&id=572763097&l=33be82992c
Now, following Martin's advice we have a copy of the agreement and the Takecare Insurance policy but it does not include the Creditcare policy.
1. Since the loan was taken out his wife has divorced him. It is noted that a) she is the beneficiary on the Takecare policy and b) the Creditcare insurance includes 'Marital Breakdown'.
2. He had various other policies at the time such as Select & Protect, Lloyds Payment Shield. None of these policies are available as his wife took all the documentation with her.
Can anyone guide me as to whether or not he can reclaim the amounts paid for these insurances? What on earth is Marital Breakdown Insurance?
I am thinking it may be best to approach a company rather than have a go ourselves given the complexity and that others have had problems with Citi Financial.
Please can anyone guide us.

Hello there;)
Just going to bump this one up for someone to take a look at this for you, maybe this would be one for Dunstonh to respond to, but meanwhile here is the link for further information on PPI reclaiming, with a checklist of mis selling reasons, templates etc.
Good luck.

Thank you,
We have already followed the advice Martin has given and obtained a copy of the policy and agreement for £1. Just wanting to know where we go from there as we don't understand what to do next even after reading all of Martin's advice.

Is no-one able to answer my queries?
We can't go it alone without answers to our questions first as we don't know what we are doing. Even after reading everything we are still not sure whether the PPI was up front, whether it is now cancelled because of the divorce etc. etc. So we can't even send the first letter if we don't know what are arguement is.
That is why we were thinking of using a company such as Brunel Franklin.
Has any successfully claimed against CitiFinancial who no longer provide loans? There is always light within the dark0 -

Hi AuntyJean
I am again so sorry no one else have posted on this matter for you, I'm surprised to be honest, but in regards of a Single policy, the ppi would have been added with the loan, so you would be paying out the montly repayment the same time as the loan, for instance if your loan was say for 10 years, the ppi may have only been for 5 years, yet you would still be paying for the ppi for the life of the loan, but the remainder of those years would not have been protected.
Have you considered requesting a Subject Access Request (SAR)?
Where they must comply by 40 days, and send everything they hold on you for over the last 6 years?
I am having trouble opening the link you posted, it's my computer, so sorry about that. XThe one and only "Dizzy Di"

We have a copy of the agreement and the terms & conditions. What would SAR be for? There is always light within the dark0 -

Hi AuntyJean.;)
An SAR is where they hold details of your account going back over 6 years, if you live in England or Wales, and Scotland I believe 5 years, however I have received information going back from the late 90's from a SAR request last year via Lloyds TSB.
They have 40 days to comply, but there is charge of £10 postal order or cheque payment for this request, also post by recorded delivery.
Everything as requested on the SAR should be sent basically, for example details of insurance and so on.
It may be worth your while.

It is entirely up to you though, but mine did help my case.
Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"
