Will she fit on plane?

Hi All

Just a quick question, I have a friend using easyjet with us next week and she is concerned about the space so i was hoping someone could help who might have experience.

She is 5'6, approx 18stone and size 22/24.

We are flying economy.

Can anyone advise if they have had a similar issue?

Thanks

I thought all Easyjet flights were economy?

My sister seems to manage all right, and she is larger than that. The seatbelts stretch quite far!

She'll be fine. Won't be the most comfortable flight she's had, but she'll 'fit'.

If she needs it, she can ask for a seatbelt extender as well, but she will probably be fine.

She will be fine. (I don't think it can be said too many times.)

As everyone else has said she will be ok , I am same size and ask for a setbelt extension as make it more comfortable.

BMI is poop anyway otherwise body builders etc would be morbidly obese

I agree. If it wasn't for my boobs my BMI would of course be a perfect 20! ;)

OP, I agree that the flight will not be the most comfortable, but she will be fine. I know a man that is a great deal bigger than her and he is allowed to travel in a single seat (though I do pity the person that has to sit next to him!).
    Gone ... or have I?
  • i am a size 6 but travel with a infant on my knee at present, i had the misfortune of a large woman strolling up and down easyjet before decicding her best option was to sit next to me, i spent 4 1/2 hours on cyprus flight with her saying she had put on weight and now couldnt fit in seat or fasten safety belt. when i first sat in my seat i found them more comfy than the one id had on a fist choice flight, however after having her wedged into my seat so i had to hang over into the isle with my baby this got extemely uncomfotable for me as well as the woman. i suggest your friend fly on an airoplane where she can upgrade as unless she finds a midget person like me to sit next to i cannot think it will be comfortable for anyone involved:confused:
on a good note though the woman was entertained by baby so it wasnt as horrendous as it could have been, suspiciuosly the womans boyfriend at the window ignored her the whole flight though:eek::rotfl:

to an extent it depends where someone carries their weight - I've been about your friend's size before I lost some weight and had no problems staying within the boundaries of my own seat...but I am a few inches taller than your friend is...though as I carry most of my "excess baggage" about the hips and bum, I'd say that if I fit into the seats at my heaviest then your friend should have no trouble...I never needed a seat belt extender but have seen other people ask for them and the flight crew is normally pretty discreet about it.

I do agree that if someone is so large as to take up any part of another passenger's seat (unless I suppose if that other passenger is with them and is OK with it) is not an ideal situation for anyone...I spent a 10+ hour flight next to a very, very large guy once...I don't have much room to spare of my own seat once I'm in it, so to have someone significantly larger next to me is really, really not a great thing.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

    GOING OFF-TOPIC

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: While it’s easy to wander off-topic that often prevents newbies finding the information they want quickly and easily (please see this rule). Is this off topic?

If you are an overly large person travelling on a low cost air carrier you need to think that the person in the adjacent seat has paid good money and should be entitled to the comfort they expected of their flight.
