how much for a shower for 5mins?

Options
hello,

I have an old fashioned shower - the ones where you pull the lever on the taps to make the shower work.

does anyone know how much it would roughly cost to run this for 5mins?

thanks you

    The cost will depend on:
    - how many litres of water are coming through per minute
    - if you are on a water meter/water rates
    - which water board you are with
    - if it was heated by electricity or gas and at what rate

The answer though will tend to be "not a lot". The trouble comes for those people that have 15-20 minute showers, 1-2 times a day without fail ... and who are in a household with 4-6 other people doing the same.
  • any idea dear? 50p/£1.

no water rates - it's in a council estate if that helps old fashioned. no meter.

    No meter ?
Then you are being charged on the rateable value of the property and not on the amount of water used.
So really it makes no difference and without a meter no one can answer that question for you as it would depend on the area, the amount used etc.

It is the cost to heat that water, not the cost of the water itself, that is surely the issue.

If heated by gas, say 3p to 4 p. If heated by electricity say 10p for a 5 min shower.

    Was that the question ?

Also would it not depend on how the water was heated> A combi boiler or hot water tank that was already full ?
