I'm itching to post a link to my company....but that would be classed as advertising and no doubt would spark another inane thread from Confused.

I know...for a fact that there are high street EA's that charge less than 1%. In fact I have quoted on here before that I don't charge percentage fees, I feel it's an unfair way of charging clients........but then again I am a lying cheating EA ;)
My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to say ;)
    Ignore......check!

Please forgive the newbie question, but what exactly does the estate agent do to justify a 1% fee?

The quote I got at the weekend was broken down into advertising, home buyers report, conveyancing etc (which are all self explanatory) but what exactly do the estate agency fees cover?

    Thanks,

After having worked for an Estate Agents for 2 and a half years. I would guess it covers the following:-

Golfing days for all the branch managers
Staff Xmas parties at venues like Aston Wood Golf Club .
    Company cars
    Nights out at the dogs

Not much of it went on my wages, as I was only earning £5 an hour.
Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £24,616.09
