You could if all else fails, reset the TV back to its factory settings. To do this do the following: (see page 20 of your manual)
The Shipping condition menu will reset all data, except Owner ID information, clearing all DVB and Analogue
tuning information and resetting all control levels back to factory settings.
You may need to adjust your VCR or programme position ‘0’ VCR after operating the Shipping condition menu.
Press the MENU button.
Move to Setup menu.
Access Setup menu.
Move to Shipping condition.
Access Shipping condition.
Press the OK button to start.
Press again, to confirm, each time that you are asked, “Are you sure?”.
Switch the TV off at the mains power switch.
The next time you switch the TV on, Auto setup will begin. DVB and
Analogue stations will be located, sorted and stored ready for use.
You could try switching the scart cables in the back of the TV e.g. swap the sky and dvd scart leads around - worth having a go.

Thanks again guys, the input select buttons (colour coded) appear and work fine but the display of either EC1/RGB or AV1/RGB is still there whatever I press
If I press TV on the Sky remote, the RGB disappears but then can't change the channel and EC1 is still there
I have switched the SCARTs around but keeping them in 1 and 4 as was told to do by installer engineer. I put the newer Monster cable one in the Skybox as the one that came with it looks flimsier - no difference though
I am too scared to reset to factory settings as I don't know what I am doing and am in a communal aerial block and the Sky outsourced company take ages to come if it won't retune - I can't go without my telly for a week or more  Besides if it's something I do, will have to pay over 100 quid call out
I have unplugged the DVD, no luck either
Going down to Comet to see the Shauns of the Dead later as Googling suggests this is definitely a Panasonic/Sky interface problem
Oh joy0 -

Had another look around and this could be due to a thing called scart control on the SKY box.
Services > Picture Settings > Scart Control
Set that to off and see if that works.0 -
Set it to OFF and it diverts to a black screen and then to BBC on Freeview. Switch to Sky and the lettering is still there
When I go back to Sky Services, the SCART control has auto set itself back to On.
Couldn't face Comet but may try to get hold of Panasonic UK and/or Sky when enough chocolate munching and coffee drinking enduces an energy burst
thanks Irnbru0 -
Like irnbru said try switching scart control off. I dont know if you did this but did you save the settings after switching scart control off? I know I occasionaly forget to do this in the sky menus.
SO try the following:
Services > System Setup > Picture Settings > Scart Control
Change this to off then go to the last item on the screen 'Save new settings' or words to that effect. Then press select. This should take you back to the system setup menu. Then change the channel to the sky channel manually.

I rang a Panasonic agent and it's gone   and more  hopefully not to return when next turn on the TV
I had to press the i key twice in quick succession on the TV remote as it had got locked somehow; had a kid to stay for a week so for once can't blame the cat or Sky
thanks a lot to all for all your help
have a great weekend
remember not to run the marathon but to watch it on TV :rotfl:
Btw what does switching the SCART settings off actually do/why would you need to do that please? No, I didn't save settings before doing that but it auto diverted back to on anyhow luckily0 -
Thanks pigeonpie. I have been trying to sort my display for the last 6 months trying and it was doing my head in and now i realise its as easy as "pi" or should that be "i".0

OMFG - I have had to put up with this for 4 years - thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. I am now watching the Matrix without EC2/RGtwatingB0

hello
See if this works:
Press the "TV" button on the top left of your sky remote
Then press the "i" button on your sky remote
Finally press the "Sky" button on your sky remote.
Hope it helps
Many thanks for that. We are having decorators in and so had to unplug TV and Sky+ box. When I reconnected a few days later we got "EC1" on the Panasonic TV and sound only on Sky - just a blank screen. Did what you suggest and everything came back again. Many thanks, you're a genius.0
