O2 to launch landline number options on business accounts
Options
O2 have announced that they'll shortly offer a service that allocates a landline number, £10 a month for local area codes, or £15 a month for a freephone number
This is answered on the mobile or for accounts with several on a choice of mobile phones, without further costs per minute for the call forwarding. It even seems possible to port in a BT number.
Of course, it's been possible to have a number from a choice of VoIP providers, for free or £2 or £3 a month, then pay 10 p or so per minute for call forwarding, which will still appeal to some modest users, but O2's service might be very attractive for businesses and some private users

http://dnc.o2.co.uk/home/2009/07/landline-mobile.htmlFixed Number Anywhere works by creating a local (or 0808 free phone) number specifically for you that goes straight to your mobile. No diverts, no redirections and no need to be sat in the office to take that important call.
Fixed Number Anywhere launches in August and will cost £10 per month for 01 and 02 landline numbers and £15 per month for 0808 free phone numbers. Businesses bringing an existing BT 01 or 02 landline number to O2 and taking a new mobile connection will get the service for free. More information will be available on www.o2.co.uk/business"> in the next week.

I would welcome this.
if you are unaware, In Germany O2 provides each customer a mobile number and a landline number. Once you give your postcode your mobile actually works as both landline and mobile phone when you are within a mile distance of the postcode. This way i never had to bother of giving my friends my landline number.
Unfortunately here in UK it is only for business customers and you have to pay a 10GBP per month....where it is free of charge in Germany.
I am waiting for the day when O2 offers free landline nos in UK too for their mobile users to use them on mobile....0
