Changing Phone/Tariff halfway through contract??

I have been with O2 for years on a 12 month (£20 per month) contract which I always just upgrade every 12 months. I am not due an upgrade until January but really really want an iPhone!

Is there anyway of changing my phone (and tariff) now without having to pay off the rest of this years contract?

you can normally reduce your contract tariff, not sure what the rules with o2 are, as im with orange, but they would let me step down to the next package once during the contract, annoyingly that rule with orange is recent as before i could reduce it to the lowest package once i was halfway through the contract which is what i always did and started a new contract at 6 months and get a new phone
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.

Nope, you'd have to pay the term fees to upgrade your contract early unfortunately.
