emsywoo123, are you saying that you can't get O2 LLU, or that you can't get any provider LLU? Please clarify.

As far as my research shows, I cannot get ANY LLU. Have checked BT, Virgin, O2 and Plusnet.

Go tosamknows.com, put in your exchange or number under Exchange Checker. On the resulting page, right hand column 'LLU Operator Presence' will list all LLU ops on that exchange.
Or post the name of you exchange and someone will check it for you.

My mum and dad live in a pretty rural area about 14 miles outside of Liverpool.

I have Orange Broadband for free through my contract - it runs about 512k sometimes just over 1MB and it's free, no contract or costs.

Don't know if your on Orange phone contract but might be worth looking into?

Dunno if it would still be free but worth a look

    Ooo who would you recommend?

IDNet,... Newnet, .... Zen, not the cheapest but all excellent companies, with first class support.

    Try a compare here;

See how they compare with the bigger companies.

Thanks for this, just checked and there are none. Exchange is Sutton Valence.

Correct, no LLU ops on that exchange, and unlikely to be as it's a very small one. So you are limited to a non LLU service for the forseeable future.
Non LLU services will all offer about the same speed, as they all use the same BT network, so you're really choosing on price and service.

Oh, i thought o2 access was supposed to be quicker, but I guess not? Is Non LLU really worth it or too painfully slow?

No, Access is just a standard BT Max 'up to 8Mbps' service. Are you saying you are still on dial up? If so yes of course it's worth it, as even a basic 512MB broadband speed is 10 times faster than dial up.
Put your number into the BT checker and it will give you an estimate of your likely speed.

Not too slow at all, beware some of the cheaper ISP's do " throttle " their connections, I was with Plusnet and it crawled to a halt every evening, I moved to IDNet and the speed shot up, and has stayed up ever since, almost 3 years now.

Well, I still haven't found a decent ISP, so I might have to go back to an Enta reseller. Really wanted to get something cheaper, but I guess being stuck in The Back of Beyond = being fleeced. Nice.

emsywoo123, seriously, unless you're happy with having your connection drop every few minutes, I'd stay well clear of O2 Home Access. It's only beaten in it's uselessness by Tiscali, and not by a huge margin either.
