Yeah i agree with above dont panic.

You can get the game repaired for a couple of quid but did you know with most of the new games you are able to install them to the harddrive and it only need the CD to validate that you have the game still.

When you put they game in go to it on the dashboard and i think it button "Y" and it will give you the option to install it.

That way you dont need the noisy Cd drive running all the time reducing the chance of damaging the CD.

You may require the lastest Xbox software which is a free update if you contect to Xbox live.

    hope that helps.

    Regards,

    Matthew

for this to work digitaldave would need enough space on his hard drive to instal the game, i think 5GB is enough for the game

Assuming he's bought anything except the Arcade model, he should be OK.

I do have enough space as I have the 60gb version but how can you download to HD if it can't read the game disc in the first place?

The first X-Box we had trashed a number of disks so we had it replaced.
The shop tried polishing one of the less damaged disks and I think it was OK.
Basically the disc drive in the X-Box is rubbish.

When you say the shop do you mean a games shop, or like another poster suggested, somewhere like Blockbuster?

My local Gamestation does it. Try phoning them first to see if they do it.

thats why they now have liteon drives to try and eliminate these problems

OP word of warning you said you have done the same with your ps3 and it was fine, its advisbale to never move a games console/pc or any device that has a dvd/cd spinning in the drive as its likely to not on damage the disk but also the hardware
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.

    It was Gamestation.
  • I'm going to take the disc to a Blockbuster store tomorrow, I will report back whether it works or not.
