Our Panasonic phones have night mode. That means in conjunction with caller display you can let through certain recognised numbers at night whilst the phone does not ring at all for other numbers. You can specify the times you want the screening to start and finish.

Be very hard to prove, would it not?

yes it would be hard to prove - and the way I am feeling at the moment (it happened again last night!) I would take the chance.

Bt can offer annoyomus call rejection . They normally charge for it .I dont no it if it works for international calls .
A few years ago I was receiving annoymous calls .I had call divert on my line at the time . When i went to bed I diverted all my calls to the local police .I only had to do this for a few night .it stoped the annoymous call .

Apparently there is absolutely nothing BT can do to stop international calls (and this is international). Its a good idea about diverting the calls. We could maye divert to one of our switched off mobiles (suppose we could give parents the number of one of the other mobiles to ring in an emergency - thanks for that). Although doesn't it hack you off when you have to go to these lengths to get a nights sleep?

thanks Nicholas - we do have a panasonic and have just unearthed the manual, you are right, we can arrange night mode on it. Can't believe I was such an idiot as not to know I could do that. Thanks so much for that advice and for everyone's else who has taken the time to help.

Tell them you are going to take legal action against them , becuase if the company are offshoring call centres to abroad they are obviously trying to save money , and would probably get pretty worried at the thought of a lawsuit against them. and also make sure you mention that you are perfectly within your right to sue them , as you are registerd on TPS and however they have obtained your data must be illegal , as telesales companies are now required by law to use sequential dialling which filters out TPS numbers.

If it carries on maybe visit your local Citizens Advice Bureau , as one of my aunites had a simlilar problem and they helped her out with it without her having the inconveinience of changing her number.
  • Soz i realise you said you had solved the problem , now but this is just reference for the future , because being registerd on TPS makes cold calling to your landline illegal
